Pointless crossplay limitations
i dont understand why every game now has to subscribe to this competitive mindset of fine tuned balance in PVP multiplayer. My partner doesent care if she gets flick shotted by a pc player, we just want to be able to play together. this game literally has gears of war style combat, why do the devs even care about fine tuned pvp balance. games need to stop catering to the competitive players and just let your average player have fun. even better, do what apex legends with, and implement a toggle to allow players to choose wether they want console to pc crossplay enabled for the PVP.

Exactly.

why should this matter though! this is why im talking about a toggle, so people can play with other platforms when the want too, and with only players from their same platform when they dont. things like this have been done in other games. its not like this is gonna be an e-sports game or something. "balance" shouldnt take precedent over fun

That's why a console is £500/£600 for a midway decent gaming PC that wouldn't even cover the GPU. Is the whole historical reason as to why 'casual' gamers tended to stick to consoles and those serious gamers who invest in their entertainment played PC games. Is a the massive problem with everything now having to try and appeal to the lowest common denominator/widest market.

wrong take-away, pc is typically easier to cheat on since it's a much less involved process for somebody to go off to nexus mods or moddb or something and load some (probably trojan riddled) file that handles it for them, that doesn't mean console players can't cheat but there is absolutely a difference in levels of access

it also really doesn't do away with the other issues and while some people are willing to overlook their opponents having a mechanical advantage or disadvantage compared to them that's only some

just need to look for a few seconds at games with crossplay to see most of them have some not inconsiderable portions of their community complaining about playing against or even on the same team as console/pc players, usually with blanket statements about 1 or the other being bad and requests for an option to turn crossplay off

now they absolutely should have just allowed the option to turn off crossplay in both operations and pvp instead of removing it entirely from pvp but given it's the internet and many of the internet's denizens tend to not notice the options menu of games before complaining I can see why they went with the "not taking chances" approach

it's more due to how easy it is to cheat on pc and they don't want console people dealing with that

Maybe devs should start implementing better Anti-cheat instead of being lazy cheap mofos with EAC

Adding the PVP to the PVE toggle choice would be the right way to go with this. Just let the players themselves have the choice if they want to open themselves up to it or not. It's an option that makes sense.

If done and the cheating is so bad in the cross play enabled matches, voices would be loud enough for something to be done.
Hellooooo_Nurse Aug 29, 2024 @ 9:21pm
all they had to do is enable gyro aim (ps5) and K&M on all consoles. a toggle for crossplay. why cant console have modern control options. input based Matchmaking.
Sifer2 Aug 29, 2024 @ 10:00pm
It should be optional. If PC players want to play with Console players there should be an option to enable it. Likewise if Console players want to play with PC they should get an option to enable.

Yeah tbh this is killing me most my friends are on consoles and I'm gaming on pc so I won't even be able to play pvp with them we been hyping this up for months and now I'm sick to my stomach because I'm going to miss out on a large part of the game.

If you have a problem with aim assist, don't blame the console players. You can also use a controller on the PC and then also have aim assist on the PC. On the other hand, there are actually people on the console who play with mouse and keyboard and do without the advantage of the aim assist.
But honestly, try aiming with a controller without Aim Assist, it's almost impossible because you only aim with your thumb. When aiming with the mouse, at least you have your whole arm.
I don't want to defend aim assist at all, but you don't always have to go after the console player for it.
Regnier575 Aug 30, 2024 @ 5:11am
Yup it's so dumb. Seems PC is just getting shafted tbh. No preload, console release time is earlier, limited crossplay means PVP probably wont last.... seems to be a console game tbh

Cancelled my pre-order (waiting for refund) and getting it on the series x
Regnier575 Aug 30, 2024 @ 5:11am
The formula has been set by other games with crossplay and input based MM. This makes no sense
Stall Aug 30, 2024 @ 9:36pm
Yeah i dont know why more devs dont add input based matchmaking it would stop a lot of complainers on both sides that cry about who has the advantage. I bet there will be no aim assist in pvp on controller for pc. So if you were planning on playing pvp with a controller on pc you are gonna be screwed, unfortunately.

You can by bypass a toggle with cheats, people did that with the crossplay on MW.
If you wanna talk about fun taking precedent, there's nothing fun about getting spawn killed from across the map by hackers on PC.
AFAIK, this game will be using Easy Anti Cheat, or as I like to call it Easy Access Cheats, since it's so easy to bypass.
