They are already on their way.
They'll cope and say "Uh no they were the prototype Adepta Sororitas"—No. They weren't. Alan Merrett, one of the OG's of GW, pretty much said they originally were Female Space Marines.
They stopped making them because at the time they did not sell. This is changing, the demographics are changing. No matter how much they p*ss and sh*t the bed.
I know that's what I do, partially. I take bits of lore from the different ages of Warhammer and role it into my headcanon. Such as the Tau still being genuinely good guys as to further how ♥♥♥♥ their life is when fused to my death guard tanks. Or that Zahndrekh still has dementia, as I think it's more fun that he has it rather than taking it.
the tau were ever genuine good guys? wasn't 1 of their 1st lore blurbs literally attacking an agri-world for not joining up?
Curiously, delusional people also see this and recognize it, but they twist it for their narrative.
Well, relatively speaking. They at least offered peace first and then attacked if rejected. And this was before their whole mind control schtick.
Plus the people they'd absorbed always seemed to be treated as proper citizens rather than slave labor or whatever
I mean aye, but asking nicely doesn't make "join or die" less of a threatening ultimatum, my point was more that the less "good guy" elements were already present from the start, later content just dropped the subtlety
Yes there were female space marine models back in the day but as its been said, they didn't sell so they dropped them.
I believe more should be done with the Sisters of battle (an already established faction with its own lore and very cool models).
There will never ever be female space marines. . . until there is.
GW can take the lore in whatever direction they want (lol and in whatever direction sells more models).
Is the franchise ruined because there's no female space marines? No.
Will the franchise be ruined if they introduce female space marines? No.
I thought it was a possibility in like maybe 5-10 years. It would be a shame as I can't imagine a way of them doing it that wouldn't be incredibly transparently criiiiinge, and depending on how it is done it would either degrade or destroy the masculine brotherhood thematic.
But I spoiled myself on this game and after seeing it all I think the chances of it happening have gone down by a lot. It just knows that it is hyper masculine power fantasy, it's self aware. The Black Library who wrote this game I don't believe would want a change of direction for the marines. Changes for other stuff in 40k, yes, Marines, nah.
lol, as of the introduction of Primaris marines the Marine lore has already been changed. XD
The only constant in the universe is change. ;)
If female space marines are ever introduced into the lore I just hope is treated with more care than GW's lazy retcon of for female Custodes. :P
Heck, as of Belisarius Cawl updating the process of making Space Marines maybe female candidates are possible know, all I ask is they're held to the same impossible standards that the male candidates are. XD
Politics and agenda drivel shouldnt be in games anyway, especially a game like this. Unless we are talking about politics in the traditional sense, which is fine.
If female space marines had always existed in the lore, then fine (i'm not a 40k expert but i doubt female marines were ever a part of the official lore).
If they made them basically normal Marines with different heads. That wouldn't sell to most people. Men doing men ♥♥♥♥ sells even to men. Men and women like seeing men do things. Why do you think male sports earns more money than female sports of the same type of sports. Men are more entertaining. Simple as that. That's why games such as Space Marine 2 which for lack of better words are similar to playing out a male power fantasy in a cool fictional badass world with cool characters sells.
