SSD required?

So I'm curious if anybody was able to try any beta versions and if they can reply with their findings, but is SSD absolutely required? Because I see a lot of games posting this nowadays and those games still run just fine on good hdds.

I'm not here to talk about what one is better or how cheap ssds are, I have my own reasons for not wanting those because I've had issues with them in the past. If we could stay on the topic that would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just for the record, I was able to play cyberpunk which states that it needs an SSD and I was also able to play starfield which says it needs an SSD as well as a few other games that I've read need it and they all ran perfectly fine for me

Its just most games run better and load faster on an SSD. HDD will still work, they will just be slower.

Okay, I was just confused as both the minimum and recommended requirements say that it is required which in this case is not true. It is just recommended

Frankly, I'm tired of seeing this on a lot of the newer game pages to be honest because I have not had a single good experience with ssds and I have tried multiple of them in the past. I do this kind of thing for a living working with computers and programming and software development, and I have never been let down by an HDD. But ssds, even high quality ones, I always have issues with them so I would like not to have to get one just to play a game that I am interested in. Thank you for your reply by the way

everyone always says "required" now. But no, it just helps load speeds really. HDD once you have a good capture of the graphics in the cache will work as well. Just not as good.

SDD just have the higher transfer rate, thats really all that makes them "better"

Yeah, I'm fine with waiting an extra minute or two for the loading, that's the only difference that I see in a lot of these games when I use my hdd. If you have a high quality hdd, you barely notice a difference to be honest in my experience. Anyway, I just wanted to get some feedback on this. Thank you very much

Just make sure to set the graphic cache size to 10+ gigs and you wont really know a difference since most games rely on that for the loading

Sorry to disagree here: it is kinda required! For me, I go through two lengthy loading screens (loading the game, loading the savegame) only to enjoy an eternal black screen when I actually try to get into the mission itself. I read similar stuff from other people who don't have an SSD. Just google 'crash during loading screen' or 'stuck in black screen' and you'll find a bunch of people without SSDs. Unfortunately.

Oh, it doesn't happen every time only about half of it. But that hurts enough once you sit through like 10mins of loading screens.

the black screen is not related to HDD or SSD its a known bug I run this at gen4 SSD and I got a black screen on operation.

SSD moves data at up to 4000 mbs...standard HDD can only max out at 200 mbs.
Longevity is similar.
All SSD's on my end....no black screens.

Don't buy budget SSD's...quality counts....buy cheap...buy twice.

black screen is not related to SSD or HDD this will only affect load times and caching the black screen is a server issue. aA bug probably because server is failing to be created even as local for offline play.

Just out of curiosity, what HDD are you using for gaming and why do you not use a SSD instead?

I think anything that is 7200rpm like the WD Black but if you are still buying now you better just go with an ssd.
