Be honest with yourselves - SM2 is not that great...
Roadmap is that of a typical tier system of releases by a AAA dev.
Combat is mid with animations/gore as distraction to trick you into how 'fun' the combat is... because it's not.

I don't think it has the legs unless you're a die hard.

People are just looking for that next thing as usual.

Helldivers combat and entire gameplay loop is superior in every way.

I haven't played it but from what I've seen.

The Game looks like a Slower Hybrid of God of War (The New ones) and Remnant From the Ashes.

The Hardest Difficulty looks just straight up unfun and boring, seemingly the lazy route of Difficulty taken where the enemies are Sponges and you are Glass.

That sounds familiar...

Probably because a lot of games do that unlike HD2.
Have to say helldivers does the most interesting version of increased difficulty, by adding new enemy types.

Biggest issue of SM2, is the weapons have no impact.

A Bolter fires a shell that is as big as a gun in helldiver's 2, yet the enemies that take the hits, act like nothing happened (Minus horde enemies.) The melee is atrocious to watch as it also has no impact and the sound design is absolutely all over the place. Not to mention it is short and lacking content (Hilarious for the price tag.) And basic features are on their roadmap, such as DLSS3 and ultra wide support lol. The game should of been delayed till spring when their horde mode is being released, but they wanted those holiday bucks.

I watched some streams yesterday, and read a lot of reviews, and after you filter out the "best game ever" hype train reviews. the game seems to be avrage, and the same as the first, not that it's a bad thing, but the first one was an average game that didn't have the legs also. I think with SM2 as was the same with SM1, The pricing of the DLC/Season pass will dictate how long the game will last. The DLC for the first game was over priced, imo, and probably help with the games lack luster numbers ever since. i mean it did have a massive boots of players back in 2018 when THQ went bankrupt but that only lasted 2 months and the game was back to three digit numbers.

From what I've seen, the gameplay looks painfully slow. Might just not be for me though.

At some point you added everything you could have added IN EVERY GAME.
At some point everyone has seen every possible iteration of everything across all games, the only difference are the textures...
All you can do is try to "improworse" it by trying to cater to the loud minority...

No it's a fair observation. It was a complaint people had with the first game. You could be right also, that it's just not for you. Same way CoD games past the world war 2 ones are not for me.
I played space marine 2, refunded it within 2 hours. For me, compared to helldivers 2 the combat and general experience of the action pales in comparison with what HD2 offers.
Generally, the COMBAT alone in space marine 2 is boring. That's all it takes for me. It doesn't help that there are so many options out there too.

The intense hectic combat, calling in stratagems, the entire atmosphere is just superior in every way possible... and that stuff is even better before you talk about gameplay loop -- of course depending on what difficulty you enjoy.

Depends on if it runs better. I would enjoy a more stable and more boring game that runs at 80 fps more than a more "fun" bugfest that drops to 40. But it is not even fully released, i will try in 2-3 months
Both games run fine, that usually comes down to individual rigs.

Of course not. Helldivers are made of papier-mâché and patriotism instead.

And here I was hoping all the hellwhiners would move there and whine there instead. Would have been funny to see them seethe at all the balance changes it needs to do.

I need about $500 to $1000 to actually play Space Marine 2.

That's how little I care about it.

Especially after seeing the original was short in single player and horribly repetitive in the multiplayer.

But, but...I must consoom and get ready for next product to consoom!

I haven't played it yet since I am on my laptop for the next 4 days but what I've seen looks good. Also, the main draw of SM1 was PvP so even if PvE and campaign are somewhat lacking, if they get PvP right, it'll still be a win.

As for HD2 vs SM1 which is a comparison I can make since I played both extensively. The combat is better in SM1 but the overall gameplay loop is better in HD2.

The problem with HD2 is that the feedback and sound of most of the weapons are absolutely pathetic and there are a lot of weapons that suffer from the idiotic wind up mechanic which is the worst way to moderate DPS.

Of course when you take the overall experience with gems into account, HD2 wins.
