Splitscreen Local Co-Op?

Having a disagreement with my brother in law. He says he won't buy the game because there's no local/split screen co-op.

He says a lot of people wouldn't buy a game because of that missing feature. I say it's not that many people. Open poll to anyone here, would this be a deal breaker for you or your friends?

Or is my brother in law being a clown?
