Parry/Dodge mechanics broken.
When the parry icon is visible above the enemy and I hit the parry button, the game needs to parry, same with dodge, same with the pistol melee.
Right now the presence of the action icon does NOT guarantee that you can execute the move, which is just broken communication with the player. Very frustrating.

the enemy can delay their attack during said icon which makes you miss your parry, get a fencing weapon to get more parry frames or learn animations and git gud

TBH they should make it so if you hit the parry during the window it will count as a perfect parry, to much going on to watch for animations.

Yeah the controls aren't great. They should have called this something else because right now I will always compare it to its much better predecessor. Space Marine 1 is a superior game in pretty much every way, it's too bad that people aren't just jumping into that game instead. Better campaign, better story, better multiplayer, better customization, exterminatus mode and most importantly better controls and game-feel.

This isn't Batman or Spiderman where you can spam the button for endless invincibility. The visual effect is not an indicator for when you have to press dodge or parry, like how it is in Spiderman and Batman. It's an indicator that the attack an enemy is going to perform is going to CC whoever it lands on. You can walk away, dodge or parry all attacks outside of that regardless. This is how parrying and dodging works in most games, even Sekiro works this way and most gamerdads were able to do that. Just play on normal if you want the Spiderman experience.

Guys, when you see someone with an anime profile, just block them, theyr gooner brain is far beyond salvagable, just there to counter balance theyr massive fat body.

Even Gamerdads can parry in Elden Ring just fine.

'Gamerdads' can parry in Elden Ring because it's all animation based with no stupid markers to confuse things.

You do realize that everything is based off attack animations here too, right?

The visual effects are cues for CCs and the type of CC. They are not QTEs. They are not button prompts. They don't indicate if a CC is even going to hit you. You can literally parry whatever enemy move set you want, just like in Elden Ring.

Just lower the difficulty if you experience cognitive dissonance because you're either too used to how it's done in Spiderman or because you're being intellectually disingenuous. It makes no sense that you think this is QTE system when this is practically the bog standard Soulslike parry system alà Sekiro.

No no I'm a normie & I'm sh*t & started playing on Veteran mode! (I was GREAT at Doom Eternal back in the day soo....)

That very very 1st Tyranid warrior killed me 5x as I tried to practice the parries & dodges, I ended up dropping down to Easy and just spammed through it in the end very distasteful and dissatisfying personally.

I've only been playing for like 3hrs but the same time in Doom Eternal and I was leaping, bounding and F-L-U-I-D with the controls having rebound them to best suite and I've done the same here but... I'm struggling here on EASY MODE!?! 🤣

I'm not learning anything... I'm not getting better, but I am loving the effects & world itself.

Considering how early the parry indicator appears, and how it can often happen from behind the camera, I think we need some sort of animation on the indicator to show when to actually parry. Like a maybe a circle that contracts from the outside, but only starts moving when the parry window activates.

That said, the lack of invincibility while doing gunstrikes is agregious I think.

What's funny is that this only happens with big tyranids, smol ones get parried with ease even if you're a lil late on the parry.

I would of thought that anytime period that the Blue Light comes above the enemy target and you hit Parry it should immediately do that (not a specific time WITHIN the Blue Light, ANYTIME DURING it), same goes for the Orange Light for Dodging.

None of that is communicated to the player in game, and is made worse by the fact that just pressing parry as soon as you see blue stuff works most of the time - if you don't get a parry you'll block and that can still trigger gunstrikes in some situations.

Also, haven't played Spiderman but I assume by your tone you have a low opinion of that game and those who enjoy and frankly you can keep the snark to yourself.
