Which version of the game should I get? Standard / Deluxe / Ultimate?
So, I've gotten bored of my previous live-service game, Diablo 4, and intend to wait until the Vessel of Hatred expansion comes out. In the meantime, now would be a convenient time to get into Space Marine 2, since I've been hoping for it since I got my first gaming PC and Space Marine 1 with it.

Initially, I was just going to get the basic Standard version, since I don't care as much about cosmetics these days, but noticed that the price of the Ultimate version was the same as the Standard + getting the Season Pass later, but would miss out on the "Ultramarines Champions" pack; the Season Pass only contains the "Ultramarines Cosmetic" pack. I really enjoyed customizing my Marine in SM1, so I want to have the full array of parts to play with. My favourite loyalist chapter is White Scars, and my favourite traitors are Word Bearers, if that helps.

So, for someone who does own the Ultimate Edition: what's the difference between a Champions pack and a Cosmetic pack? And is there any benefit to getting it if I wouldn't be making an Ultramarine?

I normally don't care for cosmetics but when it comes to warhammer 40k, it's kinda half the reason I'm a fan, lol.

I'm not 100% but I'm fairly certain the cosmetics pack is just a bolter and chainsord skin that is in the style of the ultramarines.

the ultramarines champions is a decked out set of armor for the "heavy" class. There will be more champions packs for other chapters in the future with the season pass purchase.

Do you want to spend more money now on content that might be bad or be burned out of the game by the time it releases?

If you play Diablo 4 you definitely have enough to spend on the DLC later if it ends up being good.

Deluxe/Gold Editions don't really come off as worth it in majority cases

Shoutout to Redfall where the deluxe edition content was cancelled lmao

Alright, that doesn't sound worth it for just the chainsword, bolter, and heavy armour. I'll get the basic edition now, and upgrade later once all the content is out.

in my opinion gold edition is the best the only diffrent between ultra and gold is just 1 skin for 1 class 20 bucks diffrence is just too mutch

That's also a reasonable conclusion; skip the Champions pack and get everything else. I'll consider that as well.

the season pass is just cosmetic multiplayer stuff.

all actual content like new missions is free.

if you don't plan to play the multiplayer for a significant amount of time, what's the point of having some cosmetics for it?

Alright, I went over my finances and the amount of money I've set aside for gaming, and I can easily afford to get both Vessel of Hatred and Space Marine 2 if I settle for the standard versions of both. Which I don't mind doing; these days, I find myself not really gelling with many "live service" cosmetics, and prefer the "less is more" feel of the "boring" base-game skins.
I just realized the season pass also does contain a lot of other customization dlc for PvE and PvP modes. It adds a lot more customization unlocks to the game if that matters to you.
