Is the game CPU-demanding and will it be optimized a bit better?
My setup is i5-11400f / RTX 3070 8GB / 16GB RAM, game runs on 30-50 fps in 1080p no matter the settings (except native resolution AA loads GPU like hell as well). Framerate dramatically drops to 25 fps whenever there is a horde of any kind. I think I know the culprit here might be the processor, but it can't be THAT old, runs perfectly in all other modern games. Is there any chance to get better performance in the future? Maybe Vulkan support might fix that?

The game is not poorly optimized, while there will be some cpu optimizations over the coming weeks much of the cpu load comes in the way it handles the swarming AI. Just because a persons rig cant handle a game does not mean its poorly optimized, it just means the game is demanding. The only optimization "issue" was a bug in the swarm engine that resulted in poor core allocation resulting in higher than necessary temps which has since been hot fixed as of today.

Hardware unboxed's GPU benchmark for space marine 2 shows the 3070 8gb at 1080p ultra (native resolution) getting an fps average of 90 fps with lows in the high 70s. This means your cpu is heavily limiting what your system can do. given the system requirements recommends 16gb of ram it is unlikely your ram is slowing the game down, especially by that much.

It is unlikely for cpu demands to go down very much at all if at all.

The game is just horribly optimized. i7 11700k with RTX 4700 and 16 GB of RAM runs between 40-60 fps in 1920x1080. At absolute random moments (mostly open spaces) fps drops sometimes to around 35 fps. Last time i encountered this kind of optimization was Jedi Survivor..... Needless to say, other modern games run with stable 60 fps, even some rather impressive ones.

I think the game is beeing bottlenecked by the CPU, having some absolutely unreasonable demands in this part. Don't know what people are on about, saysing this game is well optimized- it realy isn't. I simply accepted this fact- going to finish the campaign and probobly drop it, due to how unpleasent it is to play something with constant stutter and fps issues. Sure as hell there will be a review from my side on this...

I see... Kinda glad that's not just my problem, to be honest lol. But don't lose hope Brother, the bad optimization in this case definitely can and should be fixed. I think that this game will run at 60-70 fps on High or even Ultra settings on my setup, if devs figure out a solution to whatever is going on.

i have i7-14700k and RTX 3080 and i play on 4k everything on high on 80+ fps

Really glad for you, but eh, I dunno, for us maybe it is just the bottlenecking issue. Although the guy above has 11gen i7 processor + 4070, which are clearly more powerful than mine, but the game runs just as bad as my setup. As much as I am confused, I still have hopes that this might be resolved in the future patches.

I have extreme gigachad pc setup and my fps is very good but my pc is about to leave to space when I play this game.

Yup, the game turns a lot of computers into ovens, can confirm by scrolling through the forum lol

Same issue here. My gpu is barely used around 60-70%
I have a 4080 with i7 12700k.
The game runs fine most of the time 70-80fps but sometimes it drops below 60 and it just feels bad.

My cpu never go above 50 Celsius in turbo now it’s 75-80
VictorVonVice Sep 11, 2024 @ 2:31pm
the game is about as optimised as rodimus prime.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It’s heavy on both CPU and GPU

Ok, it definitely ain't a graphics issue, confirmed (I suppose you play in 4k). CPU usage IS the problem here. I can't wrap my head around this though, the only really demanding thing in this entire game might be the Swarm system, but everything else should be running fine, except it's not. I mean, come on, the game is not THAT detailed, there aren't tons of neatly animated NPSs which live their lives, do things and animations and whatnot.

As someone with a 5800x/3080gpu (12gb) with 32 gb of ram (it was cheap 2x16 sticks so I said ♥♥♥♥ it),
I get good frames, However I get temps of middle 80s compared to something like cyberpunk and I get middle to low 70s.
Optimization isn't a problem, CPU overheating for whatever reason is. I don't need to change anything for airflow, but for this game I basically need to take off the cover to keep temps low. It's crazy.

Damn, so it is a bottleneck for me after all. Thanks for the answer. I found some other benchmark - the RTX 3070 runs the game on Ultra on 110 fps, so now I am sure that my processor ruined the game for me :(

I dunno Intel but game so far barely pushes my 5950.

The 6900 XT on the other hand, ya, it’s hummin’
