Can i play without the epic online services?

I got the game from a buddy would like to play it one of these days so i installed it.
before running it however i made sure to delete the epic online services files so they could never install in the first place.
ofcourse when starting the game (after having to mess with bitdefender to add it to my anti virus exceptions for some weird reason for it to even start)
i get a warning that EOS is not installed and that i should quit and verify the game (♥♥♥♥ no devs i don't want that crap)

Now the devs have said multiple times it's for the optional crossplay. but they're being careful with their wordings they never specified if the files themselves are also completely optional. which is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and scummy of them ngl.

So i'm curious will i have issues if i continue to play without the EOS files installed?

yes i just learned of that and just uninstalled it manually and you can still play

i removed the game files, prompted me that the EOS files were missing and closed the game on its own, could not work around it so i just refunded the game

I just played the tutorial, 1 main mission and 1 operation in co-op without issues.

Yes. If you want to disable cossplay and if you are willing to deal with matchmaking constantly failing where no one joins for 20-30 minute increments or longer. I tried without it, the unmentioned epic online services they never disclosed is pretty much required to play. Other than offline.

I had crossplay enabled just fine. even without the epic online services crap.
i also had no issues finding people quickly for a game.

Your account shows 4.5 hours played. I doubt you even notice much in that time period.

i mean.. i did just say that i did the tutorial, main mission and a operation....
i queued twice. and both time i got instantly in a party.
i also have crossplay enabled just fine as well. (if it actually works to crossplay with my friend who plays on xbox i have yet to test. but ill update on that tomorrow)
so yeah if you constantly get issues where you don't get anyone for 30 minutes. maybe that's not a issue with having epic removed. especially if i do indeed successfully crossplay with my xbox friend tomorrow.

It's just used for crossplay, games that run on Unreal Engine use it all the time since there isn't a Steam-based plugin for it, the engine is made by Epic afterall. You can delete it if you don't care about crossplay.

i finished the main game with EOS installed, then i manually removed in windows. with no progress lost. now i started a quick match in online PvE mode.... only seen 1 guy connecting (but then disappeared somehow). so i guess you can play with steam friend, but not the other players.

You were able to play the online operations, without EOS??? I find that very odd.. I genuinely hope this is true.. EOS is one of the reasons I dont own it, but I do want it.. Easy Anti CHeat is another

without EOS, yes, can play the Operation Mode, but in SOLO. (only seen 1 guy connecting in last 30-50 minutes ago...then he disappeared.... I tried to start a Quick Match few times, no luck at all)

If you dont install the Epic sh... and turn off crossplay, your game wont work properly, meaning connecting to games. Experienced that with my buddy.

I guess that Epic money is too much more appreciated than gamers choice...

Nope, letting it installing epic does not solve this problem.

now i will try re-installing EOS (with crossplay disabled) and see if i could make a quick match successfully...
