Dunno if there is a specific reason other than "we din't simply upscale the old armor to make them bigger"
But yeah, the Angry Mouth Grill was an iconic part of the SM.
The older pre-primaris helmets looks so much better.
Agreed that OG space marines look better than primaris marines. but GW is really pushing it so not much we can do except for boycotting their plastics.
The "Older" Marines where what is called now the "Firstborn" Marines
Now the scale of the models for decades never really matched up to the Lore scale they are suppposed to be.
In Lore a Marines is a 7ft Monstrosity, in models cale, they where barly a couple of milimeters taller than Guardsmen models.
A trend started appearing, where people who had Space Marines armies, converted/modified their models to make them taller closer to Lore scale.
This was called the "Tru-Scale marines" and it grew rapidly within the community.
Since the time of making drastic changes to the setting and rules was approaching, GW saw it as an opportunity, to make Tru-Scale Marines Models.
ISSUE: GW saw what people did and how they reacted when they announced the end of Warhammer Fantasy battle setting to make it Age of Sigmar and COMPLETLY invalidating whole ranges of models for the new Factions.
So GW din't want a repeat of this, where Space Marines players (who are like 40% of the community) would feel forced to Buy the new models to replace their Old ones.
So they came up with the Primaris lore (wich was really NOT a popular decision) and that Primaris models where limited to a couple fo new Units that you could field alongside the Old models and units.
But the end goal of GW was to slowly replace the OldMarines model range with the Primarines, and turning th old modles into "Legend "ranges, meaning that you can use them if you have those, but they will NOT have any new rules updates in the future.
Wich off courses pisses off people, but hey this is the life of a 40k fan..., never liking the decisions made by Corporation, while being a Loyal undying fan of the setting and lore...
Not a single piece of wargear we use is the same as old ones, because they don't fit.
