i can never understand why people push for representation in video games. there has always been representation in video games like prototype, mortal kombat, spiderman like the list goes on. the difference is when those games launched nobody was sitting there praising diversity. they were just good games liked by everyone.

No trans person is asking for lgbtq capes on every steam forum and no woman is asking for women in mysogonistic grim dark universes.
It's the anti trans anti womens rights people who want to make others as angry as they are.
Their main argument for trans people and women being bad is that they always want to force their opinion on you.
That doesn't actually happen very often so they fake it every day.

unfortunately due to most social medias rewarding people for engagement regardless of it being positive or negative engagement (steam forums included) the waters are heavily muddied. on these steam forums there are bots that copy paste the same message in not just this game but several other games, loudly demanding representation and stuff. these bots clearly don't care, they do it to get people riled up and give them steam awards like the jester award. the steam points are then transferred to the host's main account so they can spend the steam points on whatever.
it's super stupid i know, but the moment rewards for engagement are brought into a social media, intelligent well-meaning discourse almost immediately becomes impossible. now there's just a whole agricultural industry with slop made to bait people and get free steam points.
i absolutely despise how most modern social medias reward engagement, it makes genuine discourse impossible. steam forums with awards, twitter paying people for engagement, it's horrible. i hate how lgbt people are caught in this crossfire too, just so that some weird russian bots can farm steam slop points. outsiders who don't have a clue about steam point farming think it's genuine and then think lgbt people are all like that, when they're actually interacting with a farming bot.

i saw a forum post of a dude with an AI generated pfp of some fat dude with rainbow hair, making some kinda post like "add gay space marines plz make this game diverse and add black characters!! it would be so great for THE LEFTISTS" it was so obvious it was some grifter pretending to be "a leftist" and was such obvious point farming bait and some people thought it was real anyway, lmao. its crazy how people are willing to farm ragebait posts and some even host bot accounts, all just to gather up steam slop points to buy a background or whatever. i guess the moment any kind of reward can be given for making posts, genuine discussion immediately goes down the drain. forums already deal with trolls who just say bs for attention, but it was always manageable... until twitter started paying people for ragebait, steam started giving out slop points, and reddit started giving out those dumb awards...

There's no actual culture war so those people have to invent one. Anytime I see a person trolling on either side, I just block them. 10 minutes a day I look at twitter is enough culture war bs for me. Also you can't get away from it in the youtube gaming space.
