I don’t get the high praise space marine 2 is getting. Probably an unpopular opinion.
I found the campaign extremely repetitive and boring, like going through the motion with very little player agency. You don’t even get to customize your build.

In operation, the multiplayer part, you DO get to make a build but you’re repeating the same 6 maps over and over.

The game reminds me of outrider which in my opinion was a much better game in comparison. For one the multiplayer and singleplayer is seemless. You get to work on your character progression regardless the mode you play.

The build variety is also superior as well as mission types.

The only thing sm2 has over outrider is the graphics and enemy numbers.

You make a compelling argument. I like how the levels have lots of focus from the devs and they added lots of detail. For example, I like listening to npcs chatting with each other. I'm glad they didn't go open world
gaming is at one of its lowest points currently. Very few amazing title drops and even more shovelware flies into circulation. SM2 is nothing special but the competition is abymsal and won't be picking up until next month. Plus its warhammer and the gameplay itself is going to scratch an itch that other titles have been botching for a while. Had this game dropped 10 years ago the praise wouldn't be so high. Nonetheless its not a bad title at all but its going to shine that much more with the current slim pickings.

People are over hyped, the game is fun but the content is lacking

Was my impression as well, yeah.

I would say that the game both is and isn't overhyped. I think this more comes down to the IP it is connected with. This isn't overhyped as far as a "warhammer 40k" game goes. Cause we get so many low budget or underbaked warhammer 40k games and this is the first big budget decently made one we have gotten in quite a long time. (darktide is debatable but its launch was very bad).

i understand and that quite a good point too.

I think the hype come to the fact it's probably one of the best game from 40K, during the campaign i was a space marine, i felt like it, and love the vibes around it, all the details dev's did is amazing, it's not perfect but it was really nice to go throught the game.
Gameplay wise i will say it's okay, it's rewarding if you invest yourself in it and not too hard so you can still enjoy it without hard comiting in the game.

that my impression.

In therm of environment the game is really good, but as you said, it lack true content, and i hope the dev's will give as much love they gave to war Z as they will in SP2.
Hope to see more boss like the hive tyrant and miniboss ( i would freaking love to fight a bloodthirster in a real challenging fight)

the game is pretty underwhelming to be honest, i dont understand the praise either.

I thank you so much for the comparison to Outriders, that didnt came to my mind, but its actuaklly perfect and yeah, even i who think that OR is not a good game think it was better then SM2. The only thing here that blinds players, is the visual presentation and ofc the 40K aspect for the 40K fans wich always have to wait so long for their 40K titles. We waited 13 years for this one, so most of us are ofc hyped as f**k and be blinded that way :-/

Outriders also had spongy enemys, but nothing like the ones here (except mini bosses) xD

Yeah also a bit potential for some diffrent builds at least ;-)

I had never believed that it would be possible that i call Outriders a better game then SM2, but i happened xD

Imagine comparing a looter shooter with an arcade like shooter.

It’s like comparing halo and borderlands.

If you don’t like it I highly suggest swapping games.

How about this comparison. Darktide.

Now it does have loot chase mechanics but the gameplay flow and hell even the load in to the missions are the exact same.

But darktide melee is far more fluid and quicker the SM2. Gunplay is far better and more satisfying. Performance is better even compared to their launch day to this.

You can defenitely compare the combat systems of these games ;-)

Yeah and then decide wich one you like more ;-)

I can only agree here ;-)

It's just tubers that wanna be anti-bigdog, don't get it either. SM2 has some good stuff but also many bad, so mixed bag for me.

you know what I love...their might be 6 maps, but each difficulty changes the types of enemies, almost makes each level a different map, the drop locations change, the item drops change, so it's a variety...more so than you get in most games these days. So in reality it's like 24 different maps. AND more are on the way....squeeeeee
