Darktide PvE is more fun than Space marine 2's
I feel more invincible and powerful as a reject, a literal cannon fodder prisoner, than a 8'' tall ripped behemoth man in this games PvE mode.

What can be done about it?

Enemies just feel way too tanky. The standard ammo calibre round for bolters is .75... a round that when fired by non space marines does serious damage to arm and shoulder of those firing the weapon. Yet these space bugs eat them for breakfast. Shield-bearing Tzaangors are way too tanky when being hit by a space marine, in comparison to space marines they're tiny, yet they don't recoil at all from a space marines blows, and can take multiple melee hits to their shield.

You go down way too easily and the stupid armour regen over health system doesn't help, I don't know what was broken about the health on execution system from SM1. I really do not like this tiny slither of armour you get back on execution instead.

Have you tried lowering the difficulty to something you are comfortable with?

I wouldn't say fun but it is much better design than SM2. Each classes have it's own unique gameplay(more or less), and can handle any situation throwing to them
I can't remember how much I hate those flying bughead in SM2 as bulwark because somehow they think it's ok for bulwark to take them down with his pistol, totally bs

Why do you think you should feel powerful as a space marine against a swarm of tyranids in terms of being untouchable? You're not fighting dumb cultists (as in darktide), but xenos killing machines.

As a space marine does too, you also have to put in a little effort. Then you can be extremely powerful in this game, while still facing a threat thats able to cut you in seconds (as they should).

try substantial difficulty is perfect for casual playing and lots of spawns (ez kills) if you have artificer rarity weapons is way easier too.

One space marine would wreck your rejects.

There is a reason you, also fight hordes of cannon fodder.

For me, I think the TTK for space marine weaponry is too long. The breaker shotgun in Helldivers 2 kills small/medium targets in 1-3 hits but the bolt gun firing explosive Redbull cans needs way more even with headshots. I get that Space Marine 2 and Helldivers 2 are two different games, but it makes being a Helldiver feel so much more powerful when the basic weaponry are efficient.

Space marine 2 is full of bad game mechanics, ignore the apologists.

Darktide has indeed a more polished gameplay, but let's not forget Fatshark has basically rereleased the improved version of the same game for the third time in a row and they STILL made a ton of mistakes. Took them two years to get it to a good spot.

nobody is apologizing simply because you struggle with the game. turn the difficulty down and try again.

I prefer SM2 combat by about a mile, but frankly DT's combat has had years to mature and get polished to a mirror shine. SM is still trying to figure out how hard it wants to be.

they have just aimed at the other end of the market. SM is about the feels and spectacle its QTE and huge animation locking executes,

you are literally fighting cultists in every chaos mission, and those are arguably a bigger threat than the gaunts

Good news, darktide is still up and playable, you can go play that instead.

Or you could try and improve at this game and not post nonsense like this.

Oh jeez, someone better tell the sisters of battle, inquisitors, and commissars to stop using bolters or they might lose their arms!

They recoil a lot when I hit them, maybe you need to hit the gym brother.

Ahh we have found another player who has not yet found the parry button.

Okay, for those (as in this one tagged here) who don't seem to understand something basic within the lore...

Melta weapons, grenades or weapons, turrets, and or whatever is Melta, fires a wave that is hotter than the sun .

The Boltors fire a .75 caliber round... This thing is the following:
- Jet-assisted
- High Explosive
- Armor Piercing
HEAPJA as the acronym would go.

Mind you, a .50 cal shreds your average person, even with body armor that's not Grade 4 Plates (and even then) gets easily penetrated and blown through, sometimes several times over.

Now, imagine that, but with a round the size of your fist, that's basically the equivalent of 20mm or 40mm grenade launcher, only make those grenade rocket propelled. That is the Boltor round.

Enemies in this game, even the Gaunts, DO NOT EVEN FLINCH from a single shot from this. Mind you, these rounds would EASILY shred through them, yet it takes MULTIPLE HEAD SHOTS to take just ONE down on Ruthless.

The Boltor weapons (short of the Heavy Boltor) DO NOT operate, nor do they feel like a Boltor. It more so feels like we're shooting them with an Auto-gun rather than a damn Boltor.

Now, all things considered, the game needs some massive balancing (AND NOT the "balancing" that's been done on the account of the sweats input thus far).

And before you go being a smart-ass and saying "If you don't play the higher difficulties, you don't have to worry about it!", you NEED to play the higher difficulties (up to Ruthless) in order to fully upgrade your gear. You can not trade 4 pieces for 2 of another piece (such as 4 Green for 2 Purple, etc)... so you're stuck.

Space marine armor is made of ceramite, the same material used to create carapace armor.
The main difference between the two of them is that one is powered armor and the other isn't.
A naked Ogryn is known to be significantly stronger and more durable than a naked space marine.
The rejects can take out a group of carapace armored ogryns in a few seconds.
Only one space marine wouldn't be too big of a deal, it'd be somewhere below a beast of nurgle at most.
Space marines are not invincible, in the grander scale of things, they aren't even that impressive when it comes to physical feats. People just have an over-glazed image of them. A standard Tau pulse rifle can get past astartes plate with mild effort, and those are significantly weaker than the plasma guns the veteran imperial guards are assigned
