4K texture pack question
would there be any benefit to installing the 4K texture pack if I run the game in 1080p?

I play at 2k and tried it. It looks a LITTLE better but it absolutely tanked my performance and the 4K texture pack is bigger than the base game itself.

I've uninstalled it since.

I installed texture pack and play at 1080p monitors. Little better but frame dropped by 20~30. So I uninstalled it.

you are going to seriously impact performance if you don't have a top tier graphics card with plenty of VRAM, it will look "cleaner" but not worth the cost to performance. just run the normal textures at their highest possible settings, you'd benefit visually by adjusting other things like shadows to improve the look. just play around with the normal settings, graphics are always a compromise.

None whatsoever. For you to experience 4k, your PC and monitor/TV must be capable of displaying it, which means having everything on Ultra and the res being 3840x2160. This is stated in the minimum requirements in the 4k DLC. Running it in HD 1080p, you are just tanking your FPS for nothing

The basic game runs like crap not sure why would anyone want to cripple it more.

There will be some benefit but you need at MINIMUM - GPU with 16GB for Nvidia and more than 16gb for AMD, i've 4080 and the 16gb v-ram is insufficient - sometimes textures take a moment to load because of full v-ram, it works but it's on razor's edge really.
As for performance - if you've enough v-ram it won't be affected at all.

and yes when you have a 4k monitor....*chefs kiss, thankfully no performance drop on my 3090 rtx either. But man them load times got ridiculous, as if they could even get more....

yeah as usual they didn't bother optimizing the memory footprint of the 4k textures.
They just go all out without comprimise and so it requires more than 16 GB of VRAM, even at 1440p, very playable but it seems to go over the edge slightly.
