I honestly did not know what it did before seeing Dr Rockso's comment, I only thought they became more aggressive xD
Honestly, I largely ignore the red-eyed ones on principle (or at least don't go out of my way to thin them out). They will die as soon as I get rid of the actual threat in a couple of seconds.
empowered. Either there is a warrior or a zoanthrope near that you need to kill and they'll either die or lose that empowerment. In short, kill the big baddies first, when you can, then focus on the little nids.
