Exactly my point. Why would they add this in for one difficulty? Its just weird and frustrating.
This tethering completely neuters your health and the game is simply not designed around it. Enemies constantly make you dodge farther away, and a lot of the time you will need to move to get into melee with ranged enemies.
Indeed, nothing like taking two steps then being unable to get armor back because my allies can't smell my farts anymore.
Hey again.
See that's just it though. You know where your teammate is at and how far away you are so when you do that dodge instead of just dodging any direction you might try to dodge in the general direction of your team. That's one aspect that this new level has already changed in my gameplay style. Before it was just dodge out of danger. Now it's dodge out of danger in the nearest direction to my team that would still be a safe dodge.
In darktide it's hard to get a good sense of exactly where your team is at if not on your screen. At least in my experience.
And idk if you've played a different Darktide than me, but it's not harder to know where your team is, and... AGAIN, it doesn't actively punish you for being away from your team. Darktide was designed from the ground up with the coherency system, and yet doesn't push it anywhere near as hard as this random addition in the new Space Marine update.
Come on you know it's harder in darktide to know. Don't be stubborn. I mean we are talking 1st person view vs 3rd person. Space Marines 2 you can easily be swinging the camera around checking teammate positions and still fighting. If your team is behind in darktide there is no indication if that behind is right behind or about to step out of cohesion. Even the icon location. Space Marine 2 it is front and center by your character. Never even have to take your eyes off of it. It also has a sliding scale letting you know distance from them are you close to them or about to step out of cohesion. When that lights up red I immediately scan for a teammate.
I agree the loss of cohesion in darktide is not as a significant thing as the SM2 update. Darktide did implement a better system. That being said I like this new level. I like the idea of harder stricter mechanics. A level that even if you do everything right there is still no guarantee of success. Right now my success rate for lethal for all the matches I have played is maybe 30% give or take. Not very good, but hopefully with time I will get better. When I feel like I want a good challenge but not punishing I play a ruthless match.
