Why did the dumbest horde shooter gimmick ever invented make it into this game?
I've played my fair share of Darktide and I have to say that coherency is the worst thing ever put in a horde shooter that i've seen since DRG's low oxygen modifier. The only reason its even tolerated in Darktide is because the rest of the game is pretty good and they re-worked it several times. Why bring that nonsense over here?

In Darktide, you don't lose your basic mechanics when out of coherency, you just don't get the buffs. Not getting the armor here would be equivalent to not gaining toughness in Darktide when out of coherency. Which is completely non player-friendly and unnecessary.

Exactly my point. Why would they add this in for one difficulty? Its just weird and frustrating.

coherency in darktide isn't even game changing.

Darktides Coherency is a million times better than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage we got with sabers balance team.

Literally this right here^ It's easier to be close to each other in Darktide, and it merely encourages you to stick together and gives buffs.

This tethering completely neuters your health and the game is simply not designed around it. Enemies constantly make you dodge farther away, and a lot of the time you will need to move to get into melee with ranged enemies.

Indeed, nothing like taking two steps then being unable to get armor back because my allies can't smell my farts anymore.

its also counterintuitive to the roles you have. Sometimes as an Assault or Vanguard you HAVE TO get away from your team mates to hunt down certain mobs (like Tyranid Warriors with Venom Cannons) at a distance. Now this is pretty much a death sentence if you can't regenerate whilst doin it.

Hey again.

See that's just it though. You know where your teammate is at and how far away you are so when you do that dodge instead of just dodging any direction you might try to dodge in the general direction of your team. That's one aspect that this new level has already changed in my gameplay style. Before it was just dodge out of danger. Now it's dodge out of danger in the nearest direction to my team that would still be a safe dodge.

In darktide it's hard to get a good sense of exactly where your team is at if not on your screen. At least in my experience.

Ok. "Dodge towards your team". NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. My entire point is that the game is not designed around that.

And idk if you've played a different Darktide than me, but it's not harder to know where your team is, and... AGAIN, it doesn't actively punish you for being away from your team. Darktide was designed from the ground up with the coherency system, and yet doesn't push it anywhere near as hard as this random addition in the new Space Marine update.

They should scrap the tether system armour mechanic immediately. It has no place in this game and actively works against the core design of the entire game.

Come on you know it's harder in darktide to know. Don't be stubborn. I mean we are talking 1st person view vs 3rd person. Space Marines 2 you can easily be swinging the camera around checking teammate positions and still fighting. If your team is behind in darktide there is no indication if that behind is right behind or about to step out of cohesion. Even the icon location. Space Marine 2 it is front and center by your character. Never even have to take your eyes off of it. It also has a sliding scale letting you know distance from them are you close to them or about to step out of cohesion. When that lights up red I immediately scan for a teammate.

I agree the loss of cohesion in darktide is not as a significant thing as the SM2 update. Darktide did implement a better system. That being said I like this new level. I like the idea of harder stricter mechanics. A level that even if you do everything right there is still no guarantee of success. Right now my success rate for lethal for all the matches I have played is maybe 30% give or take. Not very good, but hopefully with time I will get better. When I feel like I want a good challenge but not punishing I play a ruthless match.
