Shotguns in 40k ?

I don't really enjoy bolter gameplay. I always play as some kind of grenadier in these kind of games, but melta is not my thing (boring) and want to switch up from GL.
Do shotguns exist in 40k? I'd love to see some weapon that has splash damage but still retains fine range and does exceptionally well for close shots.

Which isnt a weapon the imperium uses. The only Shotgun i know of is the one that the Scouts use. This one:

Just use melta. Its basicly a shotty

Shotguns are almost exclusively used for ship boarding or repelling boarders from what I recall, in a military setting.

Obviously police and other semi militarized forces use them more often

Darktide has shotguns and they're the most fun ranged weapon.

Yes, they do. Several in fact, for humans, space-dwarves and Marines. Some of the human ones range from double-barrel sawn-offs, to the ones used by the Arbites (Judge Dredd style police) which are massive, use voice-activated programmable ammunition and hit like a truck.

Marine shotguns come in a few flavours, both pump and fully automatic, and wreck face in either due to crazy ammunition variants. They are used by Marine Scouts, full-battle brothers and especially valued by the Deathwatch, since small spec-ops teams can employ the right tools for the job.

Finally the space-dwarf stuff is just OTT Rock'n'Stone madness in revolver/pump style.
