Losing Gene seed upon getting downed
Does anyone else think it makes no sense that if the person holding the geneseed gets downed (NOT die) we just lose the geneseed completely? I mean if they actually died maybe but it doesn't even drop back on the ground or anything it's just gone...

get good
The fact that it just disappears into the ether makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. However, it's a video game and the gene seed is clearly just a game mechanic that challenges you to not go down and rewards you with a nice chunk of XP if you meet the challenge.

I agree it makes no sense. On the bright side once you level the things you want the gene seed is meaningless and you won't care anymore. Which is bad design as well, but hey.

Nah it's fine the way it is. It's supposed to be a reward for doing well and not getting downed and besides it's only an extra 375 xp anyway. In the grand scheme of things that's only one, maybe two less runs to upgrade to the next weapon tier if you keep it each time.

I like it. Adds a little bit of strategy. Out of the 3 players which one is the least likely to go down. Then going forward making sure they have good health or at least a stimpak. Nice little chunk of xp. If lost since it isn't that much overall not a huge loss if the team isn't able to get it out.

Im ok with the mechanic. Its supposed to up the stakes of your game. If its too easy to extract with it its kind of lame.

bro, your down and the tyrinids are beating your ass and the chaos dude are stealing your gears. You gene seeds should be gone.

If you want lore explanations.
For the tyrinids it would be good gene template for them to make more stronger warriors.
For Chaos, they need those seeds to make more chaos marines.

The part I hate is the cheap RNG ways the game robs you of it. Like earlier today on the map with the heldrake. I was being as careful as can be carrying the gene seed while running along the bridge between heldrake "bombing runs". I wasn't taking any chances. And then one of the thousand sons teleported up behind me, blasted me with his flamethrower-shotgun-whatever-it-is and knocked me away from the only shelter nearby just long enough for the incoming hellfire to down me and steal the gene seed. I really hate that kind of random crap that is simply unavoidable.

Well not just that but you are getting the absolute crap shot and beaten out of you if you go down. The gene seed container can only withstand so much damage in a battle before the samples get exposed and spoil.

Aye thats the annoying part. Got one of these and a Carnifex spawned in Inferno after the elvator level. (You can run them out there). Than he makes his range attack, i evaded. Was swarmed during the second salvo with warriors.. And the fun part. You can`t evade through them... So i got basically stuck, and salvo three + Warrior with the not avoidable attack while you can`t roll away... Good bye gene seed... man was i pissed at that moment.

Devs just wanted to reuse a mechanic from another relatively successful Warhammer game, they've seen it in Vermintide/Darktide that you can find books on the map that provide additional rewards upon mission completion, but are lost if a character carrying them dies. Tho said mechanic does not really work in SM2 in its current state. Geneseed should notably debuff the entire team while you carry it and it should provide a better reward, that way it would work as well as in aforementioned games and would be an optional additional challenge on any difficulty for better players that would increase their gains.

However, I have 0 idea of what kind of reward geneseed could provide to make things better, because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything is hardcapped, so you will sit on 990 imperium rubles and 20 of each armory data with 0 progression anyway
You drop the jizz when you fall, that's why

I didn't read comments. If you have trouble staying alive with the Geneseed, then respectfully, brother, I suggest you drop down a difficulty until you are more comfortable staying alive on missions.

I just played an Op and somehow survived an encounter while surrounded by warriors with both team members down and almost no health, while holding the seed. Sure, I'm only playing on easy difficulty right now but damn that felt good haha.
