You think maybe the power scythe could be a new weapon for later seasons? I love the fact that 40k has a weapon like that. So far to my knowledge only Mortarian has been seen using such a weapon.

It's fair to expect some melee options in future, but it's a looooooong way away. For now we keep vigilant and drown enemies of humanity in blood

Just did more reading on the power scythe, apparently it was discontinued after the 34th millennium. Which means they're not found in space marine 2s current time.

Even in the Great Crusade era, Power Scythes were never a widespread weapon and mostly associated with the Death Guard.

And much like Chain Axes, they fell largely out of favor amongst Imperial Astartes due to their association with the Traitor Legions of the Death Guard and World Eaters.

One of the very few instances of Power Scythes amongst Imperial Astartes are the Honor Guard of the Mortifactors Chapter and as mentioned before the Scythes of the Emperor.

You kinda answered to the question yourself. If only primarch used such weapon 10.000 years ago. Why and how would we use it?

His Honor/ Bodyguard, the Deathshroud are also armed with Power Scythes.

Maybe but long as Deathguards are locked to bulwark, it's gonna be so wrong.

To be fair Space marine one had chainaxe in multiplayer as the counterpart to the loyalist's power axe. We lost a fair amount of things from one sadly.

And the Vengeance Launcher, with I have a love/hate relationship.
Hated it in MP for being fragged out of nowhere by it.
But also loved to goof around with it in the SP campaign.

What I also loved in SM1 SP campaign was, that you could rip out Heavy Bolters, Auto and Plasmacannons out of their mounts and go full on Rambo with them.

Yeah all these heavy weapons littered around the map and we can't even use it would be a nice power weapon to have in campaign and seemed like they planned it to be that way given how all heavy weapons like the heavy boltor were single time use.

Likely we will see things like power axes, power mauls before a scythe, hell Id even say we have a better chance of lightning claws.

seeing as its an extremely niche weapon, im not expecting it. probably stuff like a power axe, or if we are luck lightning claws or something would come first.

So not any other marines use a power scythe at all?

Some Chaos marines have them. I don't think any imperial marine has one.

Same situation with power scourges, which makes me sad. Can't get those on imperial dreadnaughts, only old style (non-hellbrute) Chaos ones.
