neo volkite pistol is just bad?
i havent levelled it up yet (halfway through master crafted level) since the xp for weapons is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow, but it just seems trash? especially compared to the weapons you can use for the classes its available for.

anyone else thinking this or just me?

I mean having limited side arms i can see not really tipping the scales. as your point to why they needed to be available for every class.
But my response i guess was more to the "right tool for the right job " comment. the close range functioning classes will need this new laser pointer the least..

It's a meme weapon. I can't see it replacing the heavy bolt pistol for the assault or the plasma pistol on the bulwark. Both of those weapons do their jobs far better than the volkite does... Whatever it does. That leaves the vanguard with perhaps a tiny niche for it: a long range plinker with a decent-ish ammo pool for when he has the melta equipped.

It's also really good at popping environmental explosives and barbed strangler pods, but that's really whatever.

B-but it's good if it all 3 dudes have it equipped! Yeah, good luck having a vanguard, bulwark and assault in every single game after the novelty wears off.

If its perk passives for extra damage on gunstrikes and majoris kills were extended to something more generous, say, 5-10 seconds, it might have real use as a powerful sidearm in specific situations. 2 seconds is far too short.

haha, you need all ammo just to kill it with it.

Well that's pretty much the same with Heavy Pistol, but Volkite kills it quicker.

Best weapon to clear spore mines, other than that, feels underpowered like most guns in this game.
Realigo Actual Nov 12, 2024 @ 8:12pm
It's clearly meant to be a utility weapon. Interrupts reinforcement summoners, DPS for melee on thrope, ability for melee to handle minoris gunners that have HIGH GROUND. It makes the least sense on Vanguard who needs his pistol a bit more than the other two, but there are times when you don't have grapple and with this he pretty much becomes the anti-summoner class.

people trying to use this as a primary and being surprised when it functions (very well) at being a side arm lmao

yall know you have 2 guns, no?

I think the thing does plenty of damage personally. When I aim for the head I am able to get most majoris enemies to execute with a single melee attack with maybe half a clip. So try head shots?
I wish they had communicated how it works more clearly. Most people don't know that multiple beams stack. Many times today, whenever I see someone zapping a Majoris and I join in, they purposely change targets for some reason. Probably not aware of the stacking mechanic and is trying to avoid overkill.

I'm not sure how I feel about the volkite. It seems you are trading damage for range. The range is absolutely sick on this thing. I zapped a zoanthrope on the last part of inferno while standing next to the giant ammo box.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to anything else other than offer superior range to every other sidearm. I also noticed the aoe blast it does after doing gunstrikes, but even the gunstrikes felt weak in my opinion. It kind of feels like a half baked weapon idea. I'm gonna level it up more and see what else it can offer, but it seems very much like a one trick pony.
It's singe-target DPS is actually very high, one of the highest, but that is assuming you are able to stay on-target. It melts -thropes and terminus enemies.

The classes that have access to it usually don't have primaries. The only one that has a primary weapon is the vanguard. And I'm willing to bet money that this thing don't kill Zoan/Nueros/Chaos faster than the Heavy Bolt Pistol or the Plasma.

Kinda.
They're are surprisingly bad at everything aside from killing thropes family quickly if use in group of 2 or more and zapping mines yeah... don't bring it to Chaos map tho.

Depending on how you use it, it may be a good weapon. With it’s accuracy, you can kill the spore mines really fast. My problem with the other guns is that shooting from the hips to kill them while in melee doesn’t work good enough. Clearing spores which are my main problem as bulwark and assault works well with the new gun.
It’s not a bad weapon but not op either. It has it’s usecases. Better than an op weapon for only a few classes.

The plasma gun as a unique weapon like the bulwark has, lacks of ammo. The weapon itself is great but when you really need it it turns off before the job's done.

Heavy bolt pistol doesnt have this limitation, so yes assault will keep his gun and wont trade with volkit.

Bulwark in 95% situation does not need side arm, at least now with volkit his only two tought situations, neuro and zao, will be not as tedious as they used to be.

Volkit is realy good against terminus, that's great it was exactly the spot where vanguard with melta used to be bad. Volkit as a sidearme adds a new spot to vanguard melta builds.

And which 3 classes was it given too?
The 3 melee based classes.

Which 3 classes struggle vs things like the thropes?
These 3 melee based classes.

What enemy does this gun excel at killing?
Extremis and Terminus, especially the thropes.

It's a accurate ranged tool to handle enemies said 3 melee based classes otherwise struggle with.

Overall I like the design of this laser. It's design to be strong against Spore mine, Zoan, Terminus but took too long for everything else for single laser pointer. It's niche, but fit well to the class that lacking tool to deal with problematic enemy. A choice between good at one thing vs jack of all trade.

It's fun to use, any new addition is welcome tbh
