Lore Question: Tyranids possibly human?
Looking through the lore of 40k I had the idea that tyranids might be human in origin, although I'm too new to the setting. In the dark age of technology and the following age of strife a lot was lost, killed or driven out of the galaxy, the emperor declared gene manipulation and AI tech illegal, because it destroyed the galaxy.

What if the geneslicers and the AI tech priests / AI minds literally left the galaxy, created the tyranids from human DNA, created a race of perfectly evolutionary adaptable, bio-AI controlled species and gave them the task to retake the home galaxy?

Is this not possible in the setting because I don't know some bits, or is it one of many possibilities? Especially seeing as I am confused by the current old vs new lore being reaally nebulous.

Humans as a race are not old enough to have done that in the time that would be required to pull off what you are describing. Humans are one of the younger races in the grand scheme of things and intergalactic travel is something that humans are, generally speaking, not known to have done but maybe they also invented tech that they don't have any more or discovered some xenos artifact that did it... you need to make up a lot of additional things in order for it to work so....is it impossible? No nothing is impossible. It's just really improbable.

You already understand that the setting is full of contradictions and retconns, clearly. But between the fluff in the codices and the books, old or new, it's been pretty solid that the Tyranids originate from outside the galaxy. They were first encountered on Tyran, which is near the edge of the galaxy. Their hive fleets are encircling the galaxy from the outside.

Space Marine 2 gives a small picture.

Slann could have done it, humans haven't been round long enough. They could have done the Tau though.

Not in origin. Closest you come is the genestealer cults.

Not really a possibility. Humanity had not yet left the galaxy and traveled to another one during the Dark Age of Technology. And the distances between galaxies are so incomprehensibly vast, 10k years just is not long enough to travel to another galaxy, create tyranids, grow their numbers to astronomical amounts, then have the tyranids travel back to the milky way using their sub-light speed interstellar travel.
Just consider this: not even the Chaos gods, who are seemingly omni-present in the warp, exist outside the milky way galaxy.

Considering that Silent King met tyranids during his 60 million year voyage to other galaxies, not even old ones had anything to do with tyranids origin, not mentioning humans that havent left terra until couple tens of thousands year "ago".

It's reversed, but I think they removed that lore.
