Being able to instantly interrupt reinforcement calls with a single shot at any range is a great feature though. Sometimes the stagger it does on headshots can come in handy if you're being cheeky with it in melee as well. Otherwise, it's the same story as any other sniper weapon: abuse the cloak mechanics as much as you can to keep yourself safe and your damage through the roof.
After getting relic one which gives acces to ammo refund perk , the weapon becomes playable. Not good but usable. I recently did some solo runs on rutless with it and you surerly can do it but headshoot damage is anemic, landing shoots annoying, engagements prolonged and game overall unfun.
Bringing it to lethal is borderline griefing your team.
As for class perks, I took the basics of lower recoil with bolt sniper, damage while standing still, and the perk that lets me stay cloaked 2 seconds after firing my gun, and first shot from cloak deals extra damage.
4 rounds to delete the floating noob killer big brain.
But it have a really poor ammo economy unless you abuse it's ammo refill gimmick to the fullest, and even then it's still a pretty mid choice.
Laz - Powerhouse, never go wrong with this. Need one perk on your class to make it more versatile (kill more than 1 = refund ammo) Result in a bit of hoard clear which good for some time saving like Inferno, line up the shot on wave - etc. Huge downside is beam hit box is as wonky as this game combat can be. If the edge of the beam touch any terrain, it's blocked even it seem impossible to.
Bolt Sniper - poor metal bolter style. A middle ground where is no need. Pack quite power, but not enough to make standout. I think it suit more for dodge build where you keep dodge to trigger camo and swiftly land a headshot after. Otherwise, Laz do better. I also feel like it have less accuracy/more spread than Laz almost pin-point accuracy...
Stalker - DPS style. You need to land a couple more headshot, but you also have more ammo to do so. I don't know, Tactical seem hold this gun better for his scan. Can't deny how fast this thing nip Terminus / boss HP through. You don't need camo to get the best shot out of it.
