Heavy Bolter uses wrong ammo transfer cables from backpack.
So I have watched gameplay for this game, both promotional and not, and there seems to be a consistent wrong and that is that the Heavy Marine's Heavy Bolter setup uses energy cables akin to the Lascannon or Plasma Cannon and not the Ballistic Ammo track cable.

I do recommend going to any media showing of the Heavy Marine (Not Titus wielding a heavy Bolter) and see for yourself.

I know GW havent released any Heavy Bolter armament for Primaris Marines, but couldnt we at least use the correct cables to the backpack? It looks so gosh dang silly with the wrong cables.

GW have released a Heavy Bolter armament for the new Marines. You can have one alongside Heavy Intercessors. However in this game the tactical suit can use the Heavy Bolt Rifle instead of the Gravis armoured Heavy which is different from the tabletop.

As you see the new version uses cables. There's different versions of Heavy Bolter. The one with the belt/cables linked to a ammo pack and then there's one with no cables and a large drum.

Heavy Bolter, Hellstorm Heavy Bolter, Executor Heavy Bolter.

It's unfortunately just another design choice where Primaris look inferior to First Born.

Don't even understand what the point of those cables are on an drummag heavy bolter.

Cooling maybe? I was building Chaos Legionaries for Kill Team the other day, and their heavy bolter guy has a big box mag, but there are cables that have been cut coming from the bottom of the gun. So, whatever the cables are for, I guess they aren't required to use the gun, but maybe you can fire on full auto longer or something if it's "plugged in".

Could be some Chaos reasoning too. Like overheating the gun is akin to torturing the machine spirit so it shoots with more wrath or something like that

Primaris also have access to assault bolters which really demonstrate how much you can cut down a heavy bolter. Thing is an oversized pistol.

Not gonna lie... That is .... kind of bull by GW....
The Drum wouldnt be able to carry as much ammo as the belt linked to the backpack. Having a belt fed backpack attachment would have been way better design by GW. Both for the lore (Not just the game) and for gameplay function.

Im still gonna call it "The wrong cable" as "Cooling" as some has said it could be could be, is dumb as it has an overheat system anyways xD

Yeah, I love the heavy intercessor models but the lack of a belt is a bummer. Its what I really liked with the old Devastators. And why I like the Deredo. What's more badass than a belt fed anything?

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me and looks not as cool imo but can't blame the devs for it since they're copying from the tabletop mostly.

I can see it as a versatility thing? If your brother dies and you need to get the heavy bolter, you don't need to also take their pack off
