Not for what they're selling it for... Made a thread on its discussions a while ago about how ludicrous it is to try to sell it for $70 because of the SM2 hype. A game that is 11 years old (or so).
Eugh, yeah I don't like it either. I hate when games add extra polish or some ♥♥♥♥ to their game and then use it as an excuse to sell it for the price of a new game.
Yes, dodge roll was in the first. That game was great but the dodge rolling looked ridiculous there too.
It looks really dumb in action. As it always does in video games when heavily armoured people often with backpacks and huge weapons are rolling around like ♥♥♥♥♥ chimps in a circus act. It's a very word-out video game trope form earlier eras that I would like to see more devs move away from.
A simple non-roll dodge would look better and more appropriate for the size and armour of the space marines. Hell even a compromise of a non-roll dodge on press and longer dodge-roll on hold or double press, that covers more ground but also has more vulnerability in the longer animation, would be better. So the default action is to sidestep/dodge quickly, then use the longer roll for a bigger reposition at risk of getting hit during the longer animation.
Lore isn't always adhered to when it doesn't fit gameplay. SM bolters in the game are not lore accurate afaik. They fit the gameplay balance necessary but in effect they're more akin to the scaled down bolters regular humans use, or even standard heavy ballistic weapons.
Imagine that guy reading any Space Marine book where they do insane acrobatic ♥♥♥♥ in full armor without any problem.
Lore is always adhered to do in gameplay because fans wants lore accurate gameplay.
Afaik SM bolters are not lore accurate in this game. So if so, apply your first sentence to yourself.
Sure. But this was easily fixable. Some other action games have abandoned the dodge-rolling silliness. Others do a compromise as I described. Either is superior.
