warhammer 40k anything like Starcraft ii, SC2?
Are there any Starcraft 2 players that played warhammer 40,000?
I heard, but never tried, that warhammer 40,000 was better than Starcraft 2.

Can anyone who plays SC2 confirm?

Starcraft was supposedly meant to be a Warhammer game but they lost the license mid-production (or maybe the negotiations for the license fell through?), so they just continued developing what they'd developed and filed the serial numbers off, so to speak. Starcraft is BASICALLY generic-brand 40k, with the Protoss being a mishmash of Eldar and Tau, the Zerg being a stand-in for Tyranids with elements of Genestealer Cults, and the humans obviously standing in for the Imperium.

Warhammer as a setting definitely has a lot more lore and strategic depth than Starcraft, since it has more factions and has been around longer. "Better" is always very subjective, there may be elements of 40k that turn you off, or you may find you have more room to flourish in it.

Warhammer 40k came first.

OP, are you asking from a lore based perspective or a gameplay one? Gameplay of this game and Starcraft II are completely different.

Well SC2 is an RTS, the only thing amongst the many 40k games that comes close to that is the Dawn of War 1 RTS released in 2004. A very good RTS for its time and inspired a lot of people and game devs, but it is not the same calibre of RTS as Starcraft, at least not as far as competitive play goes although it arguably might be more fun and has a better written narrative.

As far as the setting goes Warhammer is like the final boss of nerd sh*t, it has influenced an absolutely insane amount of nerd media, including starcraft and warcraft. Subjective answer, but it is vastly deeper and more interesting than starcraft.

There aren't many similarities in gameplay, as even the RTS games offer a different experience than SC2. The most is that you'll play as a heavily armored human with a big gun, shooting bugs. Similar to that one mod from the SC2 arcade. But beyond that, will be wildly different for this game

Yeah this is an important point: Starcraft and Starcraft 2 are RTSes, Space Marine and Space Marine 2 are combination Third Person Shooters/Brawlers. The gameplay style is VERY different, so comparing them is honestly a little off-base.

I was asking about gameplay. I had not considered the lore yet until now.
Thanks for letting me know the game play is completely different
