have they said anything about how the battle-pass's will function...?
honestly if its anything like the traditional battle pass's, it might just kill the game for me.

i absolutely abhor the concept of FOMO in video games. i wont explain fully as to why as it should be obvious and if my kids cant come back to a game from these times and have complete access to their content, theres a serious problem, but is there any time limit on them or are they going to actually have them implemented in a player friendly manner?

There is no "Battle Pass" system, they have mentioned there is no MTX system (although slightly incorrect by what we used to call MTX back in the 360 era.)

There is a "Season Pass" which signs you up for all the individual "packs" that will be separate DLC addons to the main game to add additional Chapters and such of Space Marines.

But there is no in-game store for skins akin to Fortnite or CoD and there isn't premium battle pass upgrade MTX.

In that regard they are correct there is no in-game MTX, but we used to call little cosmetic DLC packs MTX in the days of like Gears of War 3 and their little micro packs for Weapon Skin sets you could buy on the 360 store.

Season pass vs battle pass, like gambling vs "surprise mechanics" whatever you wanna call it, different names, same concept.

Buy if it's the type that doesn't expire ever and someone in the future can come in and get/work towards everything released at launch or whatever, then I'm okay with it. Long as nobody's getting locked out just because they weren't aware of it at the time or god forbid weren't even born yet

Edit: my bad here. I mistook season pass with a different concept. But I'm glad there's no fomo. I apologize if I came off as a bit aggressive in the response, it's just tiring seeing such practices being normalized and twisted by greed riddled corporations more interested in making money then actual love for their playerbase.

Good lord I'll never forgive fortnite for mainstreaming the concept-

A season pass is not a battle pass, they will release cosmetic bundles, and the season pass will give you all the bundles that release saving you a little money.

Ah. Alright. That's reassuring. I was kinda worried there.

I guess I forgot what a Season pass was originally. At least conceptually.

Rainbow six kinda made me associate the term "Season pass" as just another term for a battle pass like system with fomo included items.

You just described why it ISN'T "different names, same concept"

I know games like Halo Infinite are trying to introduce Battle Passes that are "permanent"

But the whole nature of Battle Passes is they are time limited FOMO incentives to keep a consistent active playerbase.

The very nature of Season Passes started out as a "Cheaper bundle of DLCs" and DLCs tend to be only as time-gated as the storefront that hosts them's lifespan. (Outside of Pre-order DLCs, etc.)

Again, I apologize. Rainbow six kinda made me see the names as interchangeable. That coupled with the fact that it's become such a mainstream practice is... frustrating to think about to say the least.

Completely understandable, Ubisoft themselves aren't helping with blurred lines in that department.
Sadly as time goes on, Big companies will find ways to use terminology in new ways to sugar coat their profit practices.

But rest assured, outside of them changing things up later, the way Focus Entertainment has described the content thus far is purely:
"All gameplay content post-launch is free, and there'll be additional DLCs added that you can pick up if you want additional Space Marine Chapter colours/emblems from the 40K universe."

thats how id prefer it. honestly id be willing to pay for post launch content in general, as long as the option is always there for me to do so and i dont have to stress about it. if i like the game, im totally okay with spending more to continue supporting it
