Honestly, this is the moment when fun is more important than story coherence. For the campaign, OK, there is a restriction because there is a story, but the coop missions, the freedom to play your personalized space marine should take precedence over the outfit or identity of his person, he is an ultramarine. So why say no to being in outfits of a traitor chapter? Let people have their fun by having 3 world eaters who charge into melee like happy idiots.

They should have made them all Deathwatch for the narrative instead.

Because you're a Ultramarine who you made look like another chapter. All the classes are based on characters in Operations mode which narrative wise is happening at the same time as Titus is doing his missions. Each one is also named. Operations is just a different Ultramarine squad completing objectives to help Titus with his and he even contacts you. Well you would be wrong. The characters in Operations are named ones and Ultramarines.

Are you sure about these things? Certainly, there's a Legion* that likes to camouflage in order to look like another one but, they are NOT the Ultras And, I don't believe that a player that creates a Black Templar will be fond of your explanations. A Templar is a Templar, a Salamander is a Salamander and an Ultramarine is an Ultramarine. The fact that we'll use the common SM model for our avatars doesn't mean that we'll all be Ultras.

I prefer to play Chaos myself (I'd play the Tyranids themselves if I could), but as a Space Marine game it doesn't really make sense to me to play as Heretic Astartes. I was surprised there was even heretic customization available in the first place (even if it is a bit underwhelming). Hell, it would make more sense to me if they included Adepta Sororitas than it would for playable Chaos.

Simple solution:

When Horde Mode releases, let us select if the team wants to be Chaos or Loyalist, depending on the selection, we might face Tyranids + Chaos or Tyranids + Loyalist forces (Guardsmen, Ultramarines).

Exterminatus mode from Space Marine 1 is pretty much that already and you can unlock a bunch of customization itens for Chaos.

However, what I hope is that they create Chaos specific co-op missions. That would be awesome.

An update with that and some enhanced customization is honestly what I'm hoping for, and honestly would be willing to bet it will happen by season 4.
