One enemy type? I'm counting over 15 based of footage shown so far, spread across two factions: Tyranids and Chaos (specifically the Thousand Sons Legion).

Tyranids:
- Rippers
- Hormagaunts
- Termagaunts
- Spore Mines
- Warriors
- Lictors
- Raveners
- Gargoyles
- Zoanthropes
- Carnifex
- Hive Tyrants

Chaos:
- Cultists
- Tzaangors
- Rubric Marines
- Scarab Occult Terminators
- Screamers of Tzeentch
- Aspiring Sorcerors
- Exalted Sorcerors
- Helbrutes
- Heldrakes

There could also be more we either haven't seen yet or will be added in DLC later.

The bugs will the main enemies it seems, taking the place of the Orks from the first game. But they do come in a very wide range sizes and variants in the table top game, and SM2 seems to be using quite a few of them so variety should be fine.

Some screenshots of the Chaos enemies that will be the other main enemy faction, if your interested:

Just curious now... What is that, in the 3rd pic? Looks like something between a terminator and a dreadnought. My knowledge stems mainly from 25 years of WH40K pc games plus some recent videos, and I haven't seen one of those yet.

It's a Chaos Dreadnought or "Helbrute". The design is based of their more modern 6th edition miniatures, whereas the Chaos Dreadnoughts that appeared in SM1's multiplayer were based of the older 2nd-3rd Edition minis.

idk, the main "enemy" being those alien bugs looks boring to me... darktide mops the floor with this game if we are talking enemy types...

I mean to be fair, people enjoyed L4D2 and as far as I'm aware. The zombies didn't really have voice lines. Same with COD Zombies beyond screaming. If voice lines aren't your complaint well

As someone shared earlier, there's quite a few enemy types. Which will most likely have body groups so they're not all the exact same

As far as miniatures go Chaos Marines don't have Dreadnoughts anymore unless you dip into Legends miniatures and their rules. That is to say they have Dreadnoughts if you have a old one and you can use it fine unless at a tournament but the most recent up to date range is void of Dreadnoughts.

"zombies" are way better than crawling bugs... more fun to look at and shoot at. my concern comes after watching a few trailers and gameplay, and all I see is groups of green bugs, with the ocasional "lock in animation of finishing a larger bug"... I dont know.,.. If I dont see any other type of enemy encounter then this game is a PASS for me.

Y'got hordes of bugs. Horde varients for both slashing, shooting, and flying. Then you have elite "flying" ones like Zoanthropes for ranged. Then warriors, lictors, ect ect. Then there's also the Chaos ones which change up gameplay

Well you can. Its just not a Dreadnought but basically is currently. Its like the older boxnoughts and Ironclad are Legends now for loyalist marines.

Its the chaos equivalent, which matches on a visual scale. Not to mention boxnaughts are still playable with most weapon types minus ironclad and potentially the blood angels one. I run two of em
