also i there ain't any fem marines in sm2, i would like to but no such mentions are made in prior recent lore and sm2 ain't gona shake lore in any major way.
I've seen a lot of back-and-forth you're talking about Space Marines and gender. In the 40k universe, Space Marines are pretty much gender-neutral. The lore says that making a Space Marine involves a bunch of genetic modifications and surgeries that turn recruits into superhuman warriors. This process isn’t tied to any specific gender.
And let’s be real—this has always been about appealing to the player base and not just sticking to the lore. Games Workshop made these decisions with the contemporary audience in mind, aiming to keep the game interesting for everyone.
So higher ARI, more likely investors will put money into a a project. Good right?
Well, the writer bent Warhammer lore out of shape in favour of scoring more ARI points. Warhammer fans were not happy about this.
The writer has since been fired. Its yet to be seen how much Warhammer lore has been corrupted in favour of scoring more ARI points.
It was engineered to appeal with that whole testosterone filled masculine brotherhood vibe, and then followed up by 400+ plus books over 3 decades cementing that thematic.
This conversation has been done to death though. Ultimately its not changing any time soon, and by the time we reach that point AI is going to have drastically changed the entertainment landscape to the point I can't predict what will happen at all.
This is fine until you see the lore referring to the process only being able to be used on male physiology and all the recruits are all boys. Another lore fact is that there has not been one official female Imperial Adeptus Astartes written about. They are all men XY chromosomes and they are all a Fraternity or Brotherhood. GW is more than welcome to change the lore to appeal to people who don't really care and will drop it as soon an the next shiny object to infect marxism with presents itself, who also spend almost no money. Them lying to our faces when they changed the lore on Custodes and expected us to not have the memory better than a gold fish turned me off from GW a hobby of which I have spent 10s of thousands of pounds on since 1996. Put what you want in your IP fine I just wont spend with you if I dont like it, but dont treat me like an idiot with a single digit IQ.
Lore can always be changed.
"Bla bla bla... In the 41st millennium, advancements in trans-genetic splicing, somatic hyper-enhancement, and psycho-indoctrination protocols [add more technical babble if you like] have finally overcome the limitations of gender-specific gene-seed compatibility."
While I understand you to be upset about changes to your beloved lore, evolving it can gather a more inclusive and diverse community, attracting new players and ensuring the hobby's long-term growth. Losing a small segment of purists is a trade-off for creating a healthier, more welcoming environment that can sustain the Warhammer universe for future generations.
From what I've seen of her past work, it looks like she wasn't even hired for ARI or whatever reasons. Looks more like because her style of writing fits the type of game this is in terms of story. Not great. Not bad. But it works
They had the same thought about Gears of War and it annihilated Gears of War's cultural relevancy so thoroughly that they were forced to backpedal into a prequel rather than release Gear 6 lmaoooo!! 😂
There's also degradation happening with Starwars, Marvel, etc. Like, it's not hard to have eyeballs and just observe The Marvels be Marvels biggest ever box office bomb and now we have Deadpool and Wolverine which no doubt will make insane bank. Go figure.
The truth is that there is no such thing as a universal franchise, The Barbie movie is never ever going to have mass appeal for men, and if they made a Ken movie women would not connect with it or like it on the level that they did the Barbie movie.
Lastly, I can't predict the future, but diluting and watering down a franchise's flavour before an AI entertainment revolution strikes me as potentially a bad idea. There's some pretty horrible sh*t coming down the pike for the entertainment industry as a whole.
In all honesty. Gears of War 4/5 were destined to be wildly different from 1-Judgement. Simply because the Locust were killed off. Again. So there wasn't no active planet destroying threat for a while. In a game focused in that universe, with the world building for an active war, they pretty much only had one path forward. I think by themselves the stories are perfectly fine, and hell. If it contained regular Locust I'd be chill w/ it. But it just doesn't feel like Gears as you run around killing either COG bots or whatever the ♥♥♥♥ the Swarm is. Plus, can't stand the Onyx dissing myself.
Yes, eyes that notice Marvel has just been pumping out the same stuff again and again. But this time its with women, which is totally the breaking point. Not the fact its the same stuff over and over.
I mean, whatever helps you sleep at night. I don't think The Marvels or Echo etc is "the same stuff again and again", but whatever, supposedly Marvel will be going back to more masculine targeted and less activisty stuff in the coming years so if I am correct it will be "the same stuff again and again" yes, but also massively more successful than phase 4. 🤷♀️
I don't really know why some people seem to deny than men have tastes that come from a male perspective. Women have tastes that come from a female perspective and those tastes are seen as completely valid and okay, but masculine perspective tastes are bad and must be denied? hrmmm.
I guess those people will remain clueless as to why stuff like Doom and the OG Gears gets men going.
The reason people "deny" it is because it's untrue. Women play action games and watch action movies and join in actiony, dark, gritty nerdy hobbies, and plenty of men like stuff like Animal Crossing. Tastes and perspectives are not a biologically essentialist binary - people's tastes vary for a variety of reasons.
Ultraviolence against acceptable targets is universally loved, man.
