Imperium / chaos weapon balance in pvp
I wonder how the developers are going to balance pvp from the point of view of the game's lore.
Considering the events since the appearance of the primarch of the Ultramarines, the space marine has many new types of troops, as well as weapons. These are all new, previously non-existent types of weapons that chaos does not have. Chaos still uses old samples.
Yes, chaos has new plague marines and techno creatures of chaos, but these are not new bolter rifles, carbines and so on. In a pvp environment where only infantry is obtained, the arsenal of chaoites should be the same as before the cyclatrix maledictcm.

Ok? Well that’s how it worked in SM1. Take it up with the devs.

its exactly how it should work the game is about having fun that means they are going to have to balance what things do in lore vs a game, We have the tabletop or books if you want to see differences between Imperium and chaos weaponry of the 42mill

Since they’re making a game and it has to be balanced they’re probably just going to be identical with 2 different skins.

Maybe they’ll give Chaos some melee buff and Space Marines a ranged buff, but I wouldn’t expect much more than that as a difference.

its a video game first a lore experience second, maybe even third or fourth.

you're looking for a homebrew tabletop, or a book. try the plague wars

What are you talking about? The game is based on lore, how can he be in the second place? You look like an adept Ashley Cooper

I suspect the only difference will be appearance. Maybe it's not 100% accurate to the lore in every respect. . . but this needs to be a good game first and foremost. It's pretty normal to make small concessions when viewing 40k through the lens of a video game. Space Marine 1 did this too.

I'm sure both sides will have the same load-outs.

Is it 100% lore accurate? No.
Does it keep gameplay fair and balanced? Yes.

Figured you were one of “those” people.

Gameplay>lore
Its why Necrons are the way they are on tabletop for example. In lore, they should be easily slaughtering everything around them. With the tachyon arrow having a 100% chance to kill anything. But that wouldn't be very fun to play against, would it

Dan Abnett explained it really succinctly when he said 40k needs to be viewed through a lens. When viewed through the lens of a miniatures wargame there are certain changes and considerations that need to be made to make it work. The same is true when looking at the setting through the lens of a novel, or a video game.

Oh, easy. Look at weapon stats when SM2 goes live and you'll see how lore can be in second place, I guarantee you'll have your answer.

More than likely it will just be a cosmetic swap again. It WOULD be pretty damn cool if Loyalist got the new gear, and Chaos got mutations, and stuff to compensate. But at this point i'm just glad were getting the PvP mode returning at all.
