If they use whatever revenue they get from selling skins and cosmetics to fund the further creation of free content that that is good thing in my opinion. Game companies need to fund content, and if they are able to provide more content for free by selling optional cosmetics then that is a win.
I think a lot of gamers and the public writ large have overly ambitious expectations for what can be offered for the initial cost of $40 to $70 dollars.
Skimping on features in favor of paid content, or putting features behind a paywall is a good way of pissing off the fan base. EA and lootboxes, and Darktide coming out unfinished but with a paid shop are two examples of the way to not come out with paid add on features.
this game was 100% delayed solely to add in a toxic battle pass, and a $250 pre order bonus... screw this game. battlepasses are a cancer. but the masses will see, pretty gwaphics and explosions and 'it looks cool' but i wont be buying this. been on wish list since announcement. no longer
