Swimsuits? In my Mega Man game!?
I always liked that Mega Man character designs remained wholesome. This game kinda Gutsgrabs that and tosses it into a spike pit. Oh, well. It was bound to happen eventually.

I still want to play Sword Girls which shut down more than 10 years ago. More gachas going offline would have been nice.

A game based off a gacha, which appeals to either sweaty whales or simps for profits. Though in lore Reploids are androids which are supposedly as close to human as possible, which is a very hand-wavey excuse for some being able to remove their armor or even have hair. (The characters in the game are data so they can bend the rules even further if they felt like it, which they did)

(the x legacy collection had swimsuits for the navigators for one of the x challenge clear backgrounds so they technically existed beforehand)

Oh, I wasn't aware of that... dang...

As a celebration game it’s meh. Really good art and music, but everything else is just the usual mobile grind and shallowness mixed with fanservice outfits.

Compare that to other series celebration games like Sonic Generations or Super Mario Maker, and this falls apart in comparison

Totally agreed. Generations and Maker were really good games and actually felt like love letters to the series. This is just... uninspired

It's capcom, they do the bare minimum for megaman and unless there was a large profit to be made they won't go out of their way for him when he doesn't make RE/MH/SF money. While it's a shame it's just the way it is.

It doesn't help that most of the dev teams that made the games around the 2000s-2010s are long gone from Capcom and joined Inti Creates instead.

If Capcom were smart, they'd just get Inti Creates to make more Mega Man games on the side, since Capcom doesn't want to do it themselves. Especially with all the references games like Gunvolt 3 or iX2 have to Mega Man, and the fact that now they're doing their own "not-Battle Network" game. But something clearly happened between them.

I recall hearing that inti and capcom aren't on good terms, I forget all the context but it makes sense considering that they don't work together anymore.

Which is kind of funny, as they have been releasing expy franchises of Megaman series. Now they want to bank on Battle Network with a game... that actually doesn't play like it. Not surprising after making "Megaman Zero, but actually not" and such and on.

They probably used a ton of their ideas for ZX3 (which they accidentally revealed was going to be called ZXC) for some of the Gunvolt games. Which ideas they were, we won't ever know though.

But yeah, card-game roguelike Battle Network is their next thing.

Yikes. Megaman needs some more serious attention from capcom

I actually like some of the swimsuit designs, like Swimsuit iCO :3

Yeah, I get that. The have potential to be solid designs; but most of the time they just feel like a lousy way to get people to buy stuff.
Slimothy Apr 3, 2024 @ 1:47pm
The designs weren't even the biggest problem, it's how something came out that was made to eclipse older content to fuel the sweaty arms race for pvp and ranked events. Some of the seasonal alts were powerful and others were just shelf decoration.

Yeah, makes sense. Hopefully we get some good legit Mega Man content in the future.
