Control mappings deleted between sessions...
Is this a common issue? I have a Direct Input controller, which the game DOES support just fine. no issues at all.

However, when I close the game and re-open it, the controller mappings are all erased and I have to redo them. Any idea why this is?

I had this problem once with a X-Input controller, but it was because I opened the game while it was disconnected/set to D-Input mode. Maybe that's a D-Input specific problem, but I'm not sure.

It's possible, I suppose!

Always have your controller ready before running the game. If the controller is wireless/bluetooth, have it turned on beforehand, or the inputs will be bugged.

It's not wireless, and it's always plugged in. Hard to say what the issue might be.

Does it happen immediately after closing? If yes, the that may be a bigger bug with the game that I'm yet to see a solution for. But if it happens after a long while of not using the controller for anything, do you have USB selective suspending on?

Immediately after closing.

Finally I know I'm not the only one. Though what I'm getting is possibly worse, it is deleting my controller layout at random even during levels. I can put the settings back in and it works fine just to delete it all again for no reason. This began at the same time as the most recent update that changed the music for the main menu back to the original.

I've never had the problem you guys are having, my controller works fine. THAT SAID, playing a different game lately (sacrilege, I know), people had what sounds like the exact same problem you guys are having, same symptoms and all.

Another user on that game found a fix, and so I'll copy and paste it for you guys, try it out and see if helps:

Quit game. Right click game: Properties > Controller, use "Override for Wandering Sword" set to: Disable Steam Input.
Shows everything: Disabled per-game overide (all controllers).

Go, global steam Settings > Controller > "External Gamepad Settings"
Checked right: Enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers.

Relaunch game, check controls.

^Replace "Wandering Sword" with "Mega Man X Dive Offline"

I found out that my issue was unrelated but may be worth checking.
I use a wireless usb mouse and a low battery was causing it to silently disconnect and reconnect which disrupted other devices on the same usb set, in this case the controller.

If you anyone has anything wireless attached to the same set of ports it's worth checking.
