About S Hunter X...
I am not too familiar with the X franchise, I played the first 1-2 when I was a kid. How come S hunter X is identical to base X instead of his armor? I realize first armor and all the other armors are their own character in this game, but why copy the base X instead of one of the armors if he's an "S rank"?

If you check, the "S-Rank" versions of X and Zero (Don't remember offhand if they made S-Rank Axl) have higher skill damage multipliers than their B-Rank counterparts. The B-Rank versions are kinda like starter/tutorial versions of the characters, while the S-Ranks are the ones you should be investing in if you like that particular character's gameplay.

That's not really what I was asking, but thank you...

They just wanted to let people play as base X and Zero while having them still be viable endgame. That's all there is to it. The different armour versions are already good.

Lorewise, I see them as basically lore correct experienced characters who have been through a lot of hardship after numerous campaigns. Note that X shows up in default armor in most games at the start, so S rank hunter shows that he can be strong without his dedicated armor sets.

In game, it could be an excuse to have players use regular X and Zero skins for nostalgia maybe... but, is there any way to remove the silly super saiyan aura?

I wished that X had a more subtle blue aura around his body (like the chips effects), to represent his Unlimited potential. Also, it's a shame they didn't give us his skins to that S rank version.

Makes sense, I guess to me the armor is iconic, but that's cus it made such an impression on me. Though having a "viable" base version is good too

Good question. They probably took the base forms and their kits, and added on top of that. I mean, you could also ask why S-class Zero is red and not black?

S-class Zero was the last released character in the mobile version.

I think that lore-wise it would make sense for X to have a stronger base form than his armored ones by the end of the game.

Most X Armor are temporary upgrades that can also update/increment X's base capabiilities (Ex: The dash in Mega Man X2, The air dash on X7 and the 4th level charge shot on X8).

So I can imagine an experienced enough X being more powerful than his previous armored forms, after absorving their upgrades.

Ohhh, that's really cool. I always wondered why he lost his armor in the further titles in the series, so him retaining abilities and just not needing the armor anymore is super interesting. thanks for that!

(also Chaos, I did think about Zero too, it was meant for both of them, but I only focused on X cus...well Zero is Zero. He could walk out in pajamas and still crush everything in sight and be home in time for breakfast)

In the first game, X already is strong enough for be S class, but because he thinks too much to make his decisions he was given a lower class, his power was equal to Zero before Zero was rebuild by Serges.

People seems to think that X is weaker than Zero because X practically only was given his buster for self-defense while Zero was built like that from the start, for a comparison was like if X had his white armor by default.

I remember really distinctly because it made a major impression on me in the game, because it was such a powerful statement, in the original X, zero saves X in the first stage and says "You're weak right now, but one day you will be a strong as me."

Yeah what I said was the updated story because it was retconned, the internet says that Keiji Inafune was salty because Zero design had to be scraped for the creation of X (Zero was to be the main character), but he still managed to insert Zero in the story and he became that powerful wannabe figure.

Keep in mind that I don't hate Zero, quite the opposite.

Actually, the prevailing theory is that X purposely discards his armors, and only keeping the really useful abilities (like Dash) because "power corrupts". In X5 and X6, Alia recycled the Fourth and Falcon armor that X threw away, but the Fourth lost the Nova Strike, and Falcon can't fly lol.

Another theory is that he throws them away because the armors causes stress in his systems similar to an unmastered Super Saiyan. But this one I'm less inclined to believe.

Ultimate Armor is all he needs anyway lol.

Talking about Ultimate Armor, there's a theory that the reason why it never appeared again after X6 is because it degrated through time. It started blue/violet in X4, then ended completely black in X6.

But that just a theory - a Game Theory.

You can see in "The day of Sigma" (a short animation) that Dr. Light gave X the freedom of choice, he living a normal life or fighting would be his choice, that's why he comes with just a basic model and latter Dr. Light create armors for him.

His armors actually get badly damaged after each Sigma fight, but I liked of that "power corrupt" theory lol.

True, black armor is my favourite and X2 because of the red and white colors.
