How can you tell if a card's effects are being canceled?

So I know the basics of how cards work from the online version. You have three different restrictions:

Only one copy can be used, and the right most one will activate
You can stack the same card, but only one can be 5*, while the other must be 4* or lower.
Stacking resistances

In the case of clause 2, how can you tell that one of two exact copies are being canceled out despite their requirements being met? The menu in game sure doesn't darken either of the cards, and neither has an overt exclusion listed. There is a tool tip for it, but at the same time the UI sure looks like it's contradicting the tool tip.

The card I'm looking at currently is "Elite Hunter" just to be clear.

Its effects at max are:

Double Amplification (BS)III - Increase damage by 10% with a buster and melee weapon equipped.
Double Adaptability (BS)III - Reduce damage taken by 10% with a buster and melee weapon equipped.

Hmmm.... !00% Sure it just need right card color to get it work. Since Elite hunter want 2 blue and 1 red. I would want to find 2 card similar to that card also want 2 blue and 1 red.

Yeah, I have a combo in mind, but supposedly 2 of the same *exact* effects can't activate. That is, I can't have two Elite Hunter cards at 5* equipped along with a red and stack the effect. However despite how things are explained in game, the UI doesn't show any kind of warning that one of the cards is effectively being canceled.

I say this having 2 Elite Hunter ( both at 5*) cards equipped along with Japanese Version's 2nd Anniversary equipped. I'm fiddling with this on a character just to see if the difference is detectable via the "lobby's" ability to check your stats.
