Yes, that guy's name is indeed Via-Square-.
Pair him with melee weapons and melee focused cards for the greatest effect.
As for level grinding, it's not too fast but also not as slow. I got to level 141 in a couple of game sessions.
I also would evaluate their ability to collect hidden elements, some characters are strong but have zero mobility.
I'd say characters with mobility, shields, and healing are really good. being able to melt bosses is great too, like ferham can, she's got shields, healing and heavy damage attacks... just not so much mobilty.
the point would be how games normally progress? you start with low ranks and work your way up.
you work with what you have an unlock better characters later. I mean, you don't start with ultimate armor in the X games. you don't get Zero's saber in X3 right off the bat. most games force you to use what later is outclassed completely, especially in the mega man series.
now you have a bunch of A and B rank characters and weapons that serve no purpose besides giving you more gallery XP. there's no incentive to use them besides purposefully handicapping yourself. it's fine to try to challenge yourself, but that's really their only purpose now.
and you're already forced to play as X first and foremost. they could at least let you pick a starting character from the B ranks or something.
