I wish more mobile games had oflline version after shutting down.
We live in time where so many mobile games or pretty much any online games just cece to exist once the servers shut down.
Like Draglia lost. Which was a pretty good game and yet it still shut down.

*I wish more online only games in general would get an offline version after shut down.

Not just mobile games, but online only games in general. There's a bunch of MMO's that could make for great experiences if they tweaked them to remove the free to play grind and replaced the server based multiplayer with peer to peer multiplayer. Some games would require more extensive modifications than others, but surely having the game still available for purchase must be more profitable than just letting it go to waste right?

Take games like Borderlands or Dragon Ball Xenoverse for example. These are games that are designed to be playable both single player and with friends. They have an MMO-like quality to them with their online features, but aren't dependent on any server remaining active to just be playable. Converting online dependent games into that sort of experience I think is the way to go for when it's time to sunset the game servers.

Better yet: Let's go back to multiplayer being a bonus rather than the focus of games.

We're talking about online multiplayer games getting converted into games that function without needing to connect to a server. New games that are fully single player or that at best have optional multiplayer isn't a thing that has gone away, it's still a huge part of the industry as it should be. However, in this topic we are talking about how to handle multiplayer games that are getting their servers shut down

Personally, I don't want to see such games having their multiplayer components removed entirely. Rebalance such games to make for playable single player experiences sure, but don't do like this game does with the multiplayer modes being removed completely.

The "multiplayer" aspect for most mobile games is shallow and forced; a lot of them already have it tacked on in a way that feels unnatural, and yet you're forced to do it anyways to make any reasonable sort of progression.

Maybe for some, but you could already generally ignore the multiplayer in X DiVE completely. It was a little useful for obtaining certain things faster if you don't cash, but not to the point where you were significantly disadvantaged if you didn't touch it. The real disadvantage was free to playing vs cashing, with cashing being by far the better experience and free to playing being a horrible frustrating grind in general that quickly lead to burnout.

That being said though, I'd rather not see such game conversions outright remove multiplayer modes entirely and let them become lost media. Keep them in as optional modes that you can play with friends through peer to peer connectivity if you want to.

So... what would be the full list of the few games with this treatment? From what I can recall, some of these would be:

- Mega Man X DiVE (you are here)
- Seven Knights
- Final Fantasy Dimensions II

King's Knights: was made to promote Final Fantasy 15, was promoted in FF15, is now GONE. And is the only GOOD version of King's Knights, because all other versions were insane BS.

I wish more online games shutting down did what these guys did: https://www.knockoutcity.com/private-server-edition#section-download

Mobile games quality is reaching consoles/PC for the better ones, but are plagued by microtransactions, gatcha etc. I also wish for some to be released here with set price, with every piece of content easily attainable by playing the game normally and not grinding or spending additional money on it. I am talking however mostly on games with story mode, campaign, carrier mode or equivalent and not multiplayer oriented ones. Also releasing on PC/consoles could also give them better visuals, performance and controls, so it would be a win/win for everyone, so yeah I agree with you!

Yeah, I would've loved this for Final Fantasy Record Keeper and Mobius Final Fantasy

+1 to this. I'm very curious.

Also, you can throw in Dandy Dungeon.

Touhou danmaku kagura, a mobile rhytm game shut down and then raised a buttload of crowdfunding money to relaunch on steam, its coming out february 7th.
