The only exception right now is video playback but this should be fixed by the developers by re-encoding the videos in a Proton compatible format and ditching the Window Media Player playback system like what Sekai Project did for their Rewrite+ 11/21/2022 update
so someone else pointed this fix out to me. to get video audio working on Proton GE-51, you need to go into the prefix in desktop mode, should be a file path like this in your compat data within Steam files: GE-Proton7-xx/files/lib/gstreamer-1.0/
inside this folder, either rename or delete libprotonmediaconverter.so. this will give you audio on the real OP video, i checked myself.
Thanks for sharing. While that may work, although I haven't tested it myself, it isn't ideal. Editing the library directly would compromise other games that depend on that same Proton-GE version, thus breaking potential compatibility. Undeleting/renaming the shared library file just isn't a pleasant UX.
IMO, users should just ping JAST or the devs on social media to implement the necessary changes to make this game Deck Verified or just refrain from purchasing entirely for the Steam Deck.
No arguments there. It's not ideal but moving the file to my Desktop did the trick. Hopefully the devs implement an official fix but I doubt it.
Thanks to Maverick and everyone in the Steam Deck user community who find these solutions and promulgate them through the Steam Forums.
I'm an Olde DOS Guy who's slowly figuring out how to function in Linux. Things like this thread remind me of the best parts of the early PC User community. Things work best when everybody gives each other a hand.
It also lends weight to the suggestion that Valve made the right call in fostering an open platform for the Deck, anticipating that a user community would follow as a result.
Thanks all!
