After limbo, I try to upgrade Dark Marker (or roll that nuke a couple times) for survivability while upgrading towers to whatever also uses happens to use projectile speed (can't be too picky this early). You'll want everything (rank 4 cards of attack speed, projectile speed, AoE, Invigaron) at some point so I take all the Double Up and Aces High I can get. Weaken since you'll be surviving off of Dark Marker. Butcher's will 1-shot everything with enough Weaken. Good actives are Struggle (probably a must, OP with enough Invigaron), Holy Hand Grenade (kicks ass, helps activate Dominate if you have it), and Sinner's Anguish (kicks ass, its like an extra tower with enough Invigaron, and helps activate Dominate). I've had to banish No Pain for the 30secs of invulnerability as well.
Greezy's the one character that made me count cards. You'll start getting rocks if you dip under 13, so I try to buy useful green cards (usually actives) to stay at 13+.
Puncture is a must for mid-game (due to the sheer number of enemies), I've lost a few attempts because I lacked it. And I suspect you'll need plenty of crit and a Pulse Tower late game, but I'll need to look at my build from when I cleared IV.
Late game is more flexible, play to your builds' strengths. Spam/Double Up Living Shadow (this card is mvp), stack Holy Molies if you have holy towers, hopefully roll a Natural 20... abuse Invigaron for quick actives and Praise be + power-charge recharging skills (usually Salvage) to play more cards per hand.
I also started with Judgment & Dark Marker. Early game you need luck-based cards to quickly upgrade your towers/damage. Lucky Break, Ups & Downs, Nuke. An early +luck card is also very helpful though not absolutely necessary.
Some of the active skills can help in early game. Sinners' Anguish, Holy Hand Grenade, Hellfire.
At the ends of levels 1-3 get the Extra Tower upgrade.
Heading Into mid-game the goal is Judgment + Sunder. A mix of L4/5 Dark Marker (x1), Judgment (x1-2), & Sunder (x1-2) is really solid. If you're lucky getting Living Shadow is amazing for Judgment.
The only other tower I might consider is a L4/5 Divine Light. Every other tower and all garrisons are less viable in my experience.
From there build up damage, luck, and crit chance. If you get that luck built up, then Lucky Crit (AKA Shrimp) is your best friend. Eventually transitioning to late-game Unholy Pulse Tower. A single L5 Dark Marker + max crit chance + Unholy Pulse is basically unstoppable.
As Nephilim said, Greezy is the only character where I was paying attention to the card count. Every time you get a new card from draw/buy it goes to the back of your pile. Each hand you draw 4 cards. So when you're down to 0-4 cards left in your deck pay attention to what cards are coming up, how many energy you anticipate using, and if you buy a new card when it is going to show up for use.
For example, I have 3 cards left in my deck and I know I'm going to use all my energy on those 3. The shop has a card I want to buy & use immediately, but I wouldn't have enough energy to use it on my next hand, so I buy a filler Level 1 card first, that filler will be the 4th card in my next hand. Then I buy the card I actually want to use, it will be the 5th card in my deck and show up on the following hand when I have the energy to use it. Hope that made sense. This is probably the biggest adjustment I made to get Greezy through Torments.
With this build upgrades like AoE, projectile speed, range, pierce, attack speed are helpful but not critical and not priority. Focus on tower level, damage, luck, crit chance.
Its probably not as impressive nowadays after the latest update, but I still had to get very lucky. Started with Dark Marker + Judgement. My lucky start was an extremely early Living Shadow AND Blighted Blood.
Game went like this:
Early Game = Multiple Judgements // Living Shadow // projectile speed + weaken
Mid Game = Unholy Pulse Tower // AoE // synergist + lucky shrimp
Late Game = Dark Marker + Unholy Blighted Blood go from soft to hard carry
Towers: Dark Marker, Unholy Pulse Tower, Judgement x3, and Dark Pike. Dark Pike and Judgements became redundant late game, it was a two-tower massacre really.
