Turn Based Games like UoC
Turn based games = brain based games
(As apposed to twitch based games)

If you put "turn base" into the Steam search engine you will see a good starting list for some pretty great candidates to buy --- wish list time !!!

I say candidates because until you do some research - manuals, reviews, web searches - to make sure they are turn based - some are "turn base like" but not really.

For instance, I believe the best turn based tactical squad game now on Steam is XCOM: Enemy Unknown - using principles such as recon, cover, over-watch, flanking fire, height advantage spotting, staggered rush and dash ...

Just like UoC you will not be disappointed by planning and using real world tactics that depend on your brain not the speed of your twitching fingers.

(But if you want a real time tactical squad game that's hard to beat because its free on Steam, look up Alien Swarm made by Valve. Even in single player mode, you stagger the movement and the position of your 5 man squad to bring maximum recon and firepower to bear on suspected lines of enemy encounters.)

If you are looking for Turn Based Games like UoC you are probably going to be out of luck on Steam (at least for the time being), however from a previous post :

By the way if you like UoC you might want to have a look at some other (introductory level) wargames such as

Battle Academy
Conflict of Heroes
Panzer Corps
Field of Glory
Great Battles Medieval
Great Battles of Rome

Thanks ... Great War Games List ...

I have a list of 30 turn based games on my Steam wish list with ratings above 80 ... and yes they are not all wargames ... of course ... but I have also eliminated at least 30 others as well

Btw, in Greenlight, there are more wargame & turn based games to bring on board ...

Why do I prefer Steam, after great experiences with Avalon Hill, SSI, SSG, Matrix Games, et al ... and even after being an anti-Steam guy due to on-line viruses and spy-ware (protection being better now) ... although I did get a Trojan Virus from a Steam down load of Overlord: Raising H*ll ... my Persian Xerxes Executor crushed that right away

My children play on Steam ... the great support and community spirit (Go Greenlight Go)... the auto download updates, DLC's, and you can still go out onto the web to get developer and even more community support ...

I look forward to researching each new game - no matter the type or genre ... then jumping on the sales ... a must when you have over 80 games on your wish list ... and have bought way over 100 games on Steam already not to mention the freebies like Alien Swarm ...

Happy hunting for Variety is the spice of life.

As far as games on Steam go, Elven Legacy is a pretty good fantasy turn-based wargame.
