Error: Failed to initialize the Steam API

I bought the game today and when trying to launch it, nothing happened.
I fixed this by using the beta -
Now, when I launch the game, I get this message: "Error: Failed to initialize the Steam API"
Wat do?

Close Steam. Open Task Manager and end the process of anything Steam (boostrapper etc.) or game related. Then relaunch Steam and Unity of command. This is a possible fix but, it could be something else. Update us here and we'll try to assist. Good Luck.
