This is labeled as a rhythm game, but it's really not. It's an auto-runner where your job is to jump, duck, kick, block, and collect gold. The sound that plays when you break stuff or grab gold lines up with the music, but having a sense of rhythm will help you only a little bit, if at all.

Playing this game on easy/medium is a relaxing experience. The beeps, boops, and cracks of collecting/breaking stuff are so pleasant and satisfying, while also serving as pseudo-instruments for the level's backing track. Playing on hard is a little different-- the levels are satisfying in the same way, with the added self-awe of pulling off a pretty crazy display of pure reflexes, or getting through a tough sequence that you have memorized through repetition. It's extremely addicting, and also just beautiful to listen to and look at.

It's clear that this game was made with the completionist in mind, but what's not clear is whether the devs love us or hate us. Getting all the achievements requires a Perfect+ in every single stage. A Perfect is achieved when you beat a stage while collecting all the possible gold. But a Perfect+ requires you to do that, and also perfectly nail a timing mini-game at the end of the stage where you're shot out of a cannon and into a target. Failing means you have to start the WHOLE LEVEL from the beginning. There are 120 levels, and you need to do this... in all three difficulty settings. If my math is correct, 120*3=360 times that you have to perfectly time that stupid mini-game if you want the 100%. And every failure adds at least minute to your playtime. Doing this will test your patience a bit.

All of that is to say that even though I enjoyed this game enough to complete it, most fellow completionists should probably look elsewhere for their next "project". But the game itself is pretty damn awesome and an easy recommendation if it's in your wheelhouse.

I'm so glad Choice Provisions exists so that they could deliver their Runner games to us. The music is good, the rhythmic pace of the levels is spot-on, and the difficulty is easy enough for any rhythm game fanatic to perfect everything without too much trouble.

It's great for more casual enjoyers of the genre as well, as the difficulties are balanced (though easy is a bit too barren sometimes, I'd pick normal for the easier playthrough to stay interesting) and it's a very relaxing experience that can be made chaotic and much faster-paced when you decide you love the game enough to shoot for perfects on every level.

The cannon minigame is honestly the worst part, because it's a tiny bit of relatively untelegraphed timing you have to nail in order to perfect-plus a level, right at the very end, after which you have to restart and perfect the level again for another try if you messed it up. But that's a minor complaint from a completionist who went through the effort of triple-perfect-plussing every level, so it shouldn't be a big deal for most.

Enjoy the game at your own pace, on your own difficulty, and you will feel satisfied with the vibes you're rewarded with.

Completed this game! Some stuff is a little bloated (did I HAVE to get a bullseye 3 times in EACH level?) but the levels, while tough, are much more fair and well-paced than the first game and even its sequel.

What can I say about BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien , it's a great game that I can't stop advising people to buy it not only is a good game but the soundtrack is also top notch if you enjoy this tipe of game you should get it is probably one of the best of not the best in it's category.
One of the few games I give a 10/10 not only because it has been a part of my life for the past 11 years since it was released across multiple platforms but hopefully it will continue to be in the future here on steam and such alongside the first one and the BIT.TRIP universe .

This is one of my favorite games. I've never been particularly good or into platforming style games, but the fact that this one is an auto runner interwoven with a banging soundtrack makes it incredibly enjoyable. The controls are simple enough with no complicated combos, so it made for the perfect game for me so to sit back with and bang a couple levels out in every now and then.

This is the best game ever made I have devoted my entire life to Commander Video.

100 triple perfected levels/10, would play again.
