In PMD the focus is on team management and item planning, with a little bit of resource management.
In Shiren the focus is on item usage and resource management. You can get allies but they’re not much more than glorified meatshields and you don’t have much control over their AI.
In Shiren you’re not a pokemon. You don’t have moves. In fact the on thing Shiren can do withour items is a basic attack. So all of the emphasis is placed on smart item usage.
Yes it is significantly harder. In fact it’s likely to be one of the hardest games you will ever play. Your decision making and cognizances of the rules and systems will be tested thoroughly.
