I do know that many of the Devs feel passionately about the Ecosystems as well and we have some additions to Ecosystems coming in Update11 (which will be smaller than Update10.) That said, there are designs to make Ecosystems themselves much more dynamic than they are currently.

2 things I see that could make the game better is a better sense of community with your people, you're giving them infrastructure, it'd be nice if they did something with it helps you outside of simply being a new workshop, basically you give to the community and it gives back as you build their new homes.
And something a bit more in-depth meaningful with the biomes and ecosystems, maybe if 2 biomes are close enough, the overlap creates a new biome? So as you plant more and more emperor seeds you start thinking of combinations you haven't tried yet? or something more in depth regarding the ways you take care of it? I know there was this game from Ubisoft from years ago, a small project called 'from dust' where you played a benevolent god guiding your tribes through challenge levels by interacting with the elements (move sand to create water barrier or bridge, use water to propagate flora or extinguish fire, move lava to make rock walls, etc...) and I don't think it'd be doable here as a free flow mechanic, but maybe being able to build a damn (like the other renovation building) which redirects water allowing plants to grow in a desert and things like that.
Deepening both town and ecosystem relationships is a shared goal with the team as well.
Thank you for the feedback and letting us know we're (probably) on the right track!
