Underwater Exploration is Bad
Sorry, but it’s just bad. It’s almost as clunky as on land movement, the small amount of stamina and air you have making going out far from the shore tricky. I’ve died so many times just being unable to climb back out, or certain plants sapping all my oxygen. Another time I got stuck ok a single coral plant and couldn’t move. Not to mention the scarcity of resources. I’m on hour two of trying to get ten seablight swimming all around the first island. After I’m done competing this one fertile grove, never again (hopefully). There’s zero incentive. The only positive is it looks really nice under water.

Yeah I haven't found nearly as many chests underwater as I've found in the mountains and such. And since chest loot hasn't been terribly spectacular in general, not a whole lot of motivation to do extensive exploration. I usually do 3-4 "dives" into a large body of water just to see if it looks like anything useful will be there, then I just leave.

I even tried to "seed" a large lake in the west arid region by putting my colossal tree as close to the water as possible, but even though the radius is almost completely covering the lake it's not populating with much of anything.
