Half-Life 2: VR Mod - Episode One

HL2 Episode One
The original Half-Life episode one/two are now stitched into HL2 and are no longer available in the library, will there be any problems launching this game as it requires the episode one?

No, it should continue to work as it did before.

I'm having issues. Not able to add the VR mods for EP 1&2 to my library, saying that I don't own the base game. I've owned HL2 since it came out and I'm able to play the episodes on the normal version of HL2. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you own the standalone EP1 and EP2 games on Steam, or only base HL2?

I have the same problem, I only own the basegame. I cant add EP1-VR and EP2-VR to my Library. It tells me I need to own the basegame.

If you haven't already, can you try restarting Steam? And if that does not work, can you post the error message you are receiving please?

If you are having issues adding the Episode VR mods to your account, I'm afraid that is a question that needs to be directed towards Steam support. We do not have any control over the actual licensing and ownership.

Buying the Orange Box could be the fix, EP1 and EP2 is N/A but the package would still cost 2€.

Thanks for the interest in our issue, i think it would make sense you get also in contact whit steams. This looks like it will affect all people that haven’t bought EP1 and EP2

Edit: Buying the Orange Box wouldn’t fix anything it seems.

As expected, open up a ticket isn’t easy, clicked through questions in hope to find a option to open a ticket, all I get is. „Cant help, ask devs of mod“ https://imgur.com/a/7UIlGgh

How I could open a ticket that is correctly related to my problem?

Support (all the way at the bottom of the page in the footer on the store page) > Games, Software, etc. > Search for "VR Mod" or the full name of the game + episode > Gameplay or technical issue > The game won't download or install > Contact Steam Support.

That should get you in touch with someone from Steam.

I couldn't get in touch with Steam support directly when I tried to select the Half-Life Episode One VR Mod. However, I opened a ticket for Half-Life 2.
I received a response that the "base licences" of Half-Life Episode One and Half-Life Episode Two were added to my library.
When I checked my library, I still didn't had the licences, and was still unable to obtain both EP1+2 VR Mods.

I became nervous and decided to buy the Orange Box, which was just €2. This should include Half-Life Episode One and Two.
This fixed my issue.
Finally, I was able to obtain these two free VR games.

So, it's better to bet €2 on the Orange Box https://store.steampowered.com/sub/469/
The Steam support wasn't very helpful at first try, I guess it's an underlying issue that was created with the delisting of both games.

FYI, I heard back from Steam support. The general idea is that acquiring Half-Life 2 *should* also grant you the licenses for the old episodes, thus enabling you to get the VR mods (and others) that depend on them.
However, apparently you both acquired HL2 through a special package (the free celebration, I assume?) where the episode licenses were overlooked. Steam support said this should be fixed soon.

For anyone else who's still having issues getting the episodes' VR mods, please contact Steam support so they can sort it out.
