Is this game still alive?
I remember having some healthy laughs out of the burningman emote -- is this game still around?

Yep, still around. Not sure when you last played this game, but now there are 2 servers: Crom (PvE) and Fury (PvP). The majority of the playerbase is on Crom. Still plenty of players to do dungeons and raids.

Daily numbers are kind of low on Crom, but are up right now as it's World Boss time (normally 1st Wed each month, but Dec it's later).
It has a loyal player count still, yet the trend over 5 years show it shrinking. I still try to get in on T5, T6 raids with my guild, even though I have gone back to ESO.

Yep that's me haha
In my experience the remaining players are those that were too invested to leave, a toxic and often fascist environment that get off on abusing anyone new that see you as competition with them for attention from their peers.

It's alive, but not with the kind of mentality that people want in an MMO, and the fact it's so old now means nothing is ever day about the slurs and derogatory comments in chat from the resident pro-trump kind of trolls.

I've seen that kind of talk, but it's far from common. It's just a random drunk sounding dude rambling or trolling. Most of the community in my experience is nice and helpful.

That and their love for everything Conan. There's just nothing else out there with the same experience.

I don't know from what year you're talking (and I'd believe it for the old pure Pvp servers back at the start of the game), but that's never been my impression over the years up to the present.

You'll get some a$$hat's from time to time, but that's about it and if they cross the line they get shut down pretty quick.

There is toxicity. I was part of BLR at one time. It was just better for mental health to leave.

It is unique, yes, but when I count 45 people on the whole server in the evening that is a dead game. It's not going to get better.

Find something new. When this game shuts down (I do see the writing on the wall) it will be a sad day. It's all about the money like everything else.
