F2P starting class

I've been playing the game on and off for the past few years, only ever with friends and to level 30-40 max.
Which class is the best for leveling alone / unconquered mode?

There is no real way to decide which class is the "best" for soloing since they all do different things, some more or less than others. But the Bear Shaman, Demonologist, and Necromancers are very solo friendly and would be good picks if you're looking to play majority of the game alone. Bear Shaman's can heal themselves if you're looking for an edge above the other two when it comes to a survivable class.

I played a few unconqs until 80. The best class for me was the Necro, but PoM, DT, Conq, Demo was also "easy". You should think about what you want to play when you reach lvl 80. Tank, heal, rogue or mage.

As long as you don't get in over your head Dark Templer is pretty tough, while Tempest of Set has some pretty good attacks and works well as long as you can keep on the move and not let the baddies beat on you.

If you know what you're doing or willing to learn Ranger can be great.

The key to solo play for all is to put points over in the general section boxes for all of the increase armor, protection etc....

Conq is pretty good solo wise, once you reach the end of Brute spec and acquire the burst of aggression skill, it is a knockback that refreshes cooldown on kill so you can essentially spam it when you fight groups. Conq has defensive reflects and a defensive skill where you can regain health as you attack. PERSONALLY, I would level a Conq if you like melee and tanking all in one, very versatile class.
