All that changed when F/C opened up the SAGA server on Feb 15th (goes to May 15th). Population EXPLODED. Many old and new players came and stayed. Saga is starting to taper off and Crom coming back to life as players finish the Saga quest line (all will transfer from Saga to Crom when Saga closes). Both are playable, with Saga being more so.
Catching up? If you're talking about getting to lvl 80 / End game then it really depends on how much you want to put into it; Buy Double XP potions from the store?, Grind on your own or with a quild?, or join a power leveling group? Truth is you really don't need to 'catch up' to anyone as there's still players in the starter area and scattered all through the levels. Granted the majority of the Crom pop is at max level, but with the new coming over from Saga, Alt's etc..... you'll find people to play with.
Download it and start a character on the Saga server and have some fun.
