How do i cancel my Funcom/ AoC account?

Cancel your sub? Go to https://register.ageofconan.com/account log in with your game info and cancel it there, also delete your CC info.

If you mean get rid of your account as in 'I NEVER want to see this game again'. Then give all your stuff away, delete you characters and throw your log in info away. There's no real way to 'delete' an account until the game shuts down and the servers are wiped.

if i do something stupid...like decide i want to re-activate my old conan account and im playing steam free account, will steam acknowledge conans account or is steam just for the free game only ?

Your Login name and password will work no matter if you logged in via Steam or straight in without it. The game is the same for both, only one server for ALL players (well 2 if you count the Pvp server ;) ).

All Steam does is take you to the companies game launcher. With the exceptions of having Steam record your playing hours and being able to use your Steam wallet for some things, there's really no reason to download via Steam. Some games you have to, but most (all?) MMO's you don't.
